From the history, I feel the root cause was mis-diagnosed from the start.
Let's accept the turbo was at fault, due to a bad seal. Repeated test drives involving excessive oil being sent into the combustion chamber, the hydraulic forces (you cannot compress a liquid), finally took one of the pistons.
If the turbo had been replaced initially, the intercooler lines flushed, would the engine have survived? That's difficult to say. The very first run involving heavy oil loss and the smoke, those same forces, might have created stress fractures in at least one piston. From there, it could only have been a matter of time no matter what was done afterwards. The repeated guesses and tests by the dealer didn't help and might have accelerated the ultimate failure.
Sorry for the loss. With all that you've been through, the repeated mis-diagnosis and tests, the mechanic and the dealer should compensate you. You pay for access for a qualified technician, not a facility that will stumble their way through problems. Things happen. Sometimes, no matter what's attempted ends in failure. But this mechanic and shop had multiple tries. Any engine can only take so much.
