I got lucky and had a pair of long nose vice grips; I had the spring out within 30 seconds or so.

To remove the Ford
spring grind a notch in the jaw of the channel lock needle nose. You can thank me later.

Put the much softer Steeda clutch assist spring in the clutch pedal, and it will help a lot in modulating the clutch.
It took awhile/miles (greater than 250 miles) to get used to but I'll stick with the factory spring all day....for now at least
Just Swapping parts before you know what the issue is makes it harder to trouble shoot the real issue.
It definitely isn't your older manual trans feel but can be a pleasure to drive with some seat time.
I turned of roll assist and it helped with the learning curve

I put a softer than OEM spring in my clutch pedal (it was a 44 lb/in vs the Steeda 35 lb/in) and it didn't take more than a couple times driving it to feel it was much easier to modulate.

I'm guessing this is the only manual shift car you own. If the spring was a high cost item, I would definitely agree but snce it is pretty dang cheap, this is one of those times that I swap and see if it helps ....and I own a few other manual shifts car, and now this one feels similar to the others....of course YMMV. You can get used to almost anything given enough time...just saying

Cutie Pie....
I was working 3 pedals before you were a twinkle in your dads eyes.
Your solution and mmv is an option...just not mine.

I respect that. ... but if you were workning 3 pedals even at the age of 3, that would put you at about 84 years old, based on the twinkle in my dads eyes :)
