Rotating my tires, found this on one of them. I’m going into the tire shop later this week, but figured I’d post here and see what you guys thought.

If you have picked up a vibration and/or have spread it open and it's a canyon, yes it's a problem, otherwise probably not.

It's a crack in the tire's layer where it should not be.
I would replace the tire immediately.

Replace immediately, you have a crack and obvious dry rot on the tire.

Not really. How old is the tire?
3 years old, 32K miles 4/32 tread. Same as other rear tires. Fronts have 5/32. I didn’t rotate enough. Would have to replace all 4. Was hoping to get another 6K from them at least.

Yes, that is a worry. It’s a defective tire. The crack will get larger over time and due to weather conditions. At worst yes, it could cause a blow out. It should be replaced under the tire manufacturers warranty.

Check the production date on the tires. It should tell you when the tire was actually manufactured. That for sure looks like a defect.

Are those summer tires? If running them on cold that may explain the rubber splitting because it does not like cold. Summer tires gets hard when cold

If you look in the treads grooves you can see the tires are starting to split in very small areas a tire that is new and or has been stored and within its useful life will not have those lines. Thats the start of dry rot on a tire

I would replace it and not take a chance with it. The crack will expand.

Ok appreciate the responses. They are not summer tires. They are Conti Extreme Contact DWS06.
