Is it worth waiting for 2016 to order my cat to have the SYNC 3 system?

Is it possible to upgrade the 2015 models if you change the hardware?

Who knows. There might be a lot of bugs in the software, the gui interface might suck. AFAIK the software is not backwards compatible with 2015 hardware.

only thing that turns me off is Rim(blackberry) has their paws on it....and from what we've seen it's so white and grey and not very pretty of an ui.

I mean it's going to do the same thing in the long run as the current offering.

I see no reason to wait on it...we are supposed to be getting a mustang because of what it is not for it's tablet wanna be interface!

I don't base a performance car purchase on what NAV system the car has.

The first generation will have its bugs but should be pretty solid. Current generation of Sync is pretty solid too. I wouldn't hold off just to get Sync3 but each to their own. You can make anything work with enough parts, know how, and elbow grease but upgrading the 2015 to the new sync won't be an option. Or at least it doesn't seem Ford will offer any sort of hardware upgrade for us to purchase and have installed at the dealer. It is likely too expensive since it is all different hardware.

RIM owns it but it has absolutely nothing to do with Blackberry. Think of QNX as sort of a Linux; It is highly customizable and rock solid. It is a back end system. I agree with you on seeing no reason to wait.

well most of the mobile os's are built on linux on the back end at some shape or form. really my complaint is, it's just ugly lol... i'm sure there is a dark color scheme or something

No, I was just saying that QNX is like Linux in the sense that it is the back end of a lot of things (as you pointed out) but it isn't Linux. Well it kind of is; it is UNIX based as is Linux. Anyway, I digress (as usual)... I agree about the plain ugliness of Sync 3 but we have only really seen the beta of it. Maybe they finished product will be significantly better. Still no reason to wait for it.I want my car...NOW! lol

There is a whole other thread with almost the exact title.

My answer:
1. I wouldn't wait specifically for Sync 3, but that's just me.
2. Ford has said it wouldn't be upgradeable. Different hardware in addition to different software. Even the screen itself is different tech.

I will be honest. I just read an article this morning on the new Sync3 and at least from the user interface look of it I prefer the way the current Sync looks like. Perhaps is because I am use to it and never had any issues with it. I am not a huge techie person but I am happy with the current system.

I'm going to keep my eye on the Parrot RNB 6. At the end of the day I just want Android Auto, which Sync 3 probably won't have.

The upgrade doesn't appear worth it to me. It fixes "problems" that I haven't found to be problems. The only problem I've had is how hopelessly slow it is to enter navigation addresses; other than that, works perfectly.
