The small town dealer where I got my Shelby from told me yesterday they had just received a notification from a broker guaranteeing. $15k over sticker on any GT 500 (base) , $8k over sticker on Bronco and $5k over sticker on Maverick pickups. There are apparently dealers in some parts of the country who still think they can still get crazy money.

I am guessing a lot of these cars end up getting sold in certain parts of the country. Where I live (Midwest) there are definitely markups at certain dealerships/cars. But I had no problem buying a few performance cars past few years at MSRP. Even some of my wealthy friends who bought a few exotics cars (Lamborghini & McLaren) didn't have markups.

The Ford dealership where I bought my Mustang from does not have markups, but I remember reading on there website they are not doing out of state sales.

I have heard of this a lot. Searching for a Honda for my wife, most of the out of town dealerships asked for my zip code. They said if we were local, there wasn't a mark up. But if we were a certain miles from their dealership then they added anywhere from $2,000 to $2,500 to their cars. For a $28,000 car! the logic they said was, if you are local then they would most likely gain your maintenance business which makes sense. So they would still be making money off you after the sale.

Had that happen on a '22 civic. The issue was there were no manual civics at their store that was local to me. I made a bit of a scene and requested the keys back to my trade. 33k for a civic sport, I actually laughed when the salesman told me. The car was listed online for 26500. The increase wasn't communicated until I drove 2 hours to their store.

I would not hold your breath. I have an order I put in over a month ago (not HE) with a confirmed allocation and the dealer specifically told me that they checked with the regional manager at my request, and he confirmed an HE order would not be built. All sub-allocations for HEs had been allocated. Even with an allocation, I think I'm going to be lucky if my order gets built, unless they role 2022 orders over into the 2023 calendar year.

GT500s were too hard to get (I only ever saw one offered by my dealer...largest dealer in NE Alabama)...and the Mach 1 and GT500 should have been part of the last year of S550...not the middling exit it is getting. The generation made the Mustang a world class sports car and #1 sports car in the world for 8 years. S650 is called "all new", but seems to be anything but. It looks to be mostly a S550 carryover with what looks to be a Bronco interior. Guess we will see.

I have a line on a HE CFTP w/POTS, arriving in a few weeks....20k ADM....I'm tempted but...I'd almost rather go used in the color I prefer and spend the diff on MOTEC or CCBs and a bunch of CF body panels and have them paint matched to boot.

My local dealer is showing a 2020 CFTP that they are selling as new (Twister Orange) for $104K-window sticker is 97K. Not sure how a 2020 is new unless it has literally just sat for two model years because they were asking too much on it. Orange is the color I would want, but I would not want the carbon fiber track pack. Woody Anderson Ford in Huntsville, AL if interested.

@Zach@Granger can you provide any insights here? Are the 2022 GT500 allocations all spoken for? Have you heard if there will be a 2023 GT500 run? Thanks

that’s surprising, I bought a car from them a few years ago with zero mark up, and had it courtesy delivered to Massachusetts.

they were happy to do it and great to deal with.

This was a different world a few years ago. Dealers also had inventory a few years ago.

New is defined as never titled. Some of these dealers keep them in the showroom where others are the owners or GMs car that has never been registered. They slap the dealer plates on and drive it like anyone else. How many miles on the car?

I am not sure...couldn't determine from the website. No issues with Woody Anderson...they were good to do business with on my Mach 1. I know they were doing MSRP for custom orders. I got mine before all of this nonsense started and actually got it for under MSRP.
