Not really a solid reference since they do not specify the rating of the studs being torqued. Judging by ford's torque spec the S550 studs are most likely 10.9 or 12.9 rated fasteners. Those numbers are likely for 8.8 or lower.
This could be true sir I cannot speak on their behalf on the rated fastener they would be using in their orders.

2015+ mustangs have the same wheel studs as F250 trucks and they are *shock* 150ft# also

The faster of importance (the wheel stud) is already on the car, nothing that tire rack ships.
Sorry mind got scrambled million things going on at the shop at the moment.

Owe you a beer for catching my lapse in stupidity.

Yup, I have one. 150 ft-lbs x 40 (off/on) = tired arms. I'm old and tired. All my kids wore me out over the years. On top of that it's hot and humid in Florida, so everything takes 5x the effort.
I'll get an adequate impact wrench, and of course use the torque wrench to ensure 150.

This requirement has been thoroughly explained to me in this thread, and I appreciate that. I would be happier if Ford used smaller studs. Not only would it require less torque, but rotational mass would be less as well. Seems like it would have been a worthwhile investment for them in terms of cost basis.

I also own a C7 Corvette Z51. Torque specs on that are a more reasonable 100 ft-lbs. Of course, that car has an aluminum chassis, so more effort was put into it in terms of weight savings. Anyone can go to Australia and have carbon fiber wheels put on their cars. That's easy.

C7's use the smaller M12. Your Mustang has a M14. Torque it to 150lbs.

Torquing a M14 to 100lbs is as dumb as torquing a M12 in your vette to 150lbs "because that's what you do in your Mustang". :headbonk:

Aftermarket lug nuts do the same OEM torque rating smaller seat compared to the larger OEM lug nuts sir. Just as GTP stated and krt22
I'm struggling to comprehend this....

It doesn't
Correct! The factory engineers who spec the fasteners and the torque really do know what they are doing.

For those of you who are "racers" I highly recommend Carroll Smith's series of books including the fastener specific book.

Reading comprehension isn't a strength is it?

It's the same idiotic reasoning. So is putting diesel in your mustang because your Duramax takes it...

Ok, I'll play.

Why would you put diesel in your Mustang? You really should follow what the manufacturer suggests. :headbonk:

"Reasonable" is relative to requirement. And the C7 weighs more than the C6 trim for trim.

The S197 used a 1/2" stud and Ford switch to the M14 with the S550. I'm sure there was a reason, to say one is better for weight savings and "reasonable" torque specs is just silly
