iPhone15 crashes Apple Car Play

Recently upgraded to iPhone 15 and apparently they don’t play well with 3rd party cables. It will charge and play music, but it causes the Sync screen to freeze up and the only fix is to unplug and re-plug it in. I noticed this on my road trip this weekend when I had Waze over CarPlay and the map would continually freeze.

It appears apple has been made aware of the issue and could be working on a software fix. In the meantime the only solution presented is to try multiple quality cables and see if any of them stop the interruption. Either way, looks like it’s about time for me to swap out my console USB port to one with a type C interface.

No thanks, I prefer my audio files without added compression and latency issues. I want my AIFF files to transfer without loss.

As a former audiophile I get it. Unfortunately hearing loss over the years make this pointless for me at this point.

Inteestingly I have that issue in the Fusion but not the Mustang. I am guessing the cable I am using in the Mustang must be of a better quality. I changed to the iPhone 15 ProMax two weeks ago,but interestingly the same cables worked fine with my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

I'm about to upgrade my 12 to 15, and was concerned about the overheating issues on 15. My 12 already overheats while plugged in for carplay...

Curious if you were able to figure out if a MFI or compatible cable fixed the issue?

I have a 15 pro and haven’t noticed any overheating issues at all. I also never had any on my 12 Pro which was the phone I traded in.

I purchased a highly rated Belkin A-C cord, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Might be time to move to Android and stop dealing with Apple's garbage.
But I guess overheating from using an app is a feature that comes standard with the i15 and i15+

I haven't had any issues with my MP3/MP4 stored on my PLEX server and then played wirelessly through Apple Car Play (using CarlinkCarPlay stuff). Maybe it's too many years of listening to the fire apparatus sirens going off above my head and radios squaking in my ears or maybe it's all the years of heavy metal music on loud but I don't notice any audio quality loss.

The only issue I do find is that WAZE sometimes lags a bit if I'm using it and my PLEXAMP app at the same time. Not sure if it's a bandwidth issue across the blutooth connection or not but I started using Apple Maps anyways.

I haven't had any overheating issues either and no lag when using CarPlay in the Mustang.
