Apple Car Play 2016 GT

Guys/Gals;

New to the forum.

I want to use the apple car play in my Pony. Y have Sync 3 and I've been reading a lot trying to get mine to work. The search option pointed me to threads from 2016 and I'm looking for recent info.

I downloaded via wi-fi the latest upate. I know that it is the correct version since I can see the Android Audio options. The videos that I found on you tube pointed me to buy a new USB slot/connector: HU5Z-19A387-A. On the other hand it stated that Android should work with the factory usb port.

From what I saw it is a matter of plug & play and I should see the Apple interface, but nothing happens. So Do I really need to buy this component to be able to use Apple Car Play?

yes, you need the new usb port hub before you will ever see the availability of Car Play

Yes, buy the new USB port. I just did this 2 days ago. Really easy install but cost like $60-$70 unfortunately.

I'm sure they would do the software update for free, but they would charge you for the new USB. Cheaper to do it yourself.
