Recently I have a problem where I plug in my phone via USB to charge and to stream music. It doesn't matter if I use Pandora or music off my phones harddrive, it seems to cut out. After about 30 seconds the music still plays on my phone but it seems to disconnect to the SYNC system and it's hardwired via USB. It happens a few times before it finally stays connected. Anyone have anything similar happen? Any fixes? Thanks.

i havent used the USB connection in a while, but i did notice that if i plug it in while its playing, it will pause, and you will have to hit play again.

ive since started using the bluetooth connection instead. if it needs charging i plug it into a usb cable plugged into a cigarette lighter adapter.

Yeah I do the same thing. It would have been nice for them to include a non functioning USB port for just charging (or a switch to turn it off.) Every time someone plugs in their device sync starts searching through it. I just dropped a free 12V to USB converter in the armrest for future riders.

my wife's sentra has the same issue. whenever she plugs her iphone in to charge, it will start playing something on it, even if she's listening to FM.

I seem to remember a setting to automatically Play when connected via USB. I might be wrong but I think you could either set it on or off.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to drop by to let you know that SYNC is designed to automatically start indexing music if a device is plugged in via USB. Some phones have an CHARGE ONLY option, but there are no settings within SYNC to choose this. I hope this helps clear things up!

Hi chace.leahy,

Try holding the POWER and HOME buttons on the iPhone until an Apple appears on the screen. This soft reset helps improve how the phone interacts with SYNC. If you don't notice an improvement after performing the soft reset, I suggest trying a master reset: http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-.../how-to-perform-a-master-reset.html?sync=sync Keep in mind that the master reset will delete your paired devices and your settings will return to the factory defaults.
