I've spent several years going back and forth between Android and iOS, paying early termination fees, jailbreaking, rooting, etc. It used to be fun but a lot of the things I used to do that required jailbreaking/rooting are now built into the OS natively, so my interest there is gone. I've been on iOS 10 since beta first opened up and so far I'm really enjoying iOS 10. Few of my friends get it every new iOS version so I just chip in tag along

Not sure if it's just me or what but ever since Steve Jobs passed away, I haven't really had much interest in watching any of the conferences. Me and a group of other pentesters used to stop working while in the office, watch the conferences, and have fun debating about Android vs iOS. I may still read some articles a few days later but it just doesn't feel right.

I highly doubt iPhone 7 will bring anything exciting to the table, other than the usual. It's probably gonna be thinner, better processor, more memory, and then they're gonna play a game and talk about how cool and smooth the game runs. Oh and Siri will be able to answer a few more questions. Blah blah blah.

TouchID has been my favorite thing they've introduced in the last few years and it'd be very interesting when/if something else becomes just as useful for me :D

I can definitely relate Alton. Just not the same since Steve died and I also no longer jailbreak. Events are nowhere as exciting but I still prefer Apple to Droid. I am on Apples upgrade plan so I'll be getting it anyway. I would have to keep it 24 months to pay it off and after 24 months I'd want a new phone anyway and start on a new phone payment cycle so I figure I'll just get the new phone every year lol.

I guess I will wait till my contract is up. I am not staying with verizon. They charge $360 a month for 4 lined and 15g data that we always run out.

Fuck paying for cell phone I rather spend the money on car parts.
I will train couple of pigeons to deliver my messages.

I hear what your saying and this reminds me of some reasons I like the Apple upgrade plan.

$40 a month isn't taking away from buying parts for my car :) and getting the phone through Apple I get an unlocked phone that is not tied to any carrier. I can switch carrier any time and just bring my phone with me :headbang:

Yeah, mostly devices are incremental improvements of their existing functionality: faster/more efficient CPU/GPU, better camera systems (lenses, sensors, supporting components like the flash), and it's less common to introduce a brand new feature, and will continue to be decline - that is, until there's some new usage model we haven't discovered yet.

Like you said, TouchID was a big feature (to enable, secure mobile payments), we've got ton of sensors, cameras, GPS, BT, the use cases for those continue to be extended by smart developers, but there hasn't been a new big breakout moment in terms of hardware.

FWIW, the 7 is supposed to - of course - bump all the typical things (CPU/GPU/Cameras), the camera change sounds cool, dual lenses on the larger model (and people have indicated quad flash, 2x amber, 2x white), it's supposed to be IPX7 so reasonably water resistant (which includes a new home button that's sealed, using haptic feedback to simulate a click, very cool).

I think the big money is going to be on the 8 (there's even talk Apple may do a tick-tock-tick ... tick), skip as S variant, since next year would mark the 10th anniversary and I suspect a _major_ change in the form factor (and possibly 3 models).

iOS10 is super nice, can't wait for the gold master/public release, plus WatchOS 3 can't some soon enough.

Can't watch the official keynote at work. Caught a few updates via FB on my phone. When they gonna stop talking about the stupid watch and tell me how much of my soul is being sold for this next gen?

I was always a fan of Android OS until years ago when my company starting providing me a phone. At the time it was right when the iphone 5 came out (I think it was the 5, not the 5S but I can't remember exactly). Since they were providing the phone and only did Apple, that's what I used.

Over the years, they changed to a "Bring Your Own Device" system and just pay us money each month for whatever phone. That said, I'm so vested into iOS now, that going back to Android just isn't in the cards.

I'm currently using an iphone 6 Plus, have an iPad 4th gen, and an Apple TV at home. I can appreciate the Apple iOS and can see why it's become what it is. Having a limited amount of devices to program/develop for must make things much easier on developers.

At the end of the day, they all do more or less the same stuff. I still have my moments where I can't stand Apple, or rather some "Apple people". I won't get into it since I don't want to inadvertently offend anyone.

I'm at a point where I wouldn't mind a new phone and will probably get one of these new ones once the dust settles. I just keep wishing for more and there never is. I'm really starting to wonder if innovation has plateaued. We've seen so much progress and change in the last few years, have we just reached a limit where the only new stuff is a faster processor, more memory and more pixels?

Interesting presentation... not much to talk about anymore besides "faster" "better camera" "no headphone jack"

I wonder what the price will be for the 2 year thing with ATT.

No head phone jack? How much will each pair of wireless earbuds cost every time I loose them?

Nice Watch updates, we're definitely in for two new ones, possibly the ceramic for the wife (depending on price). Even WatchOS 3 is a super nice update, but the 50m water resistance is _huge_ for us (we're in/around water all the time, pool/surf/boat ... our weekend hot tub parties ...)

iPhone 7 looks solid, the dual lens on the Plus is super slick, they went big/little for better battery life, taptic home button for 1) coolness and 2) supporting the IP67 water resistance. Better display tech, killer SOC, better speaker system, water resistance, loner battery, seems like another winner.

Probability of ...

New Watch: 95%
iPhone 7: 50%

I would rather have a Note 7 shoved up my ass exploding with fire before I would ever own an I-phone.

That's quite the brand loyalty there lol

I'd rather have nothing shoved up my ass or explode in there over a damn phone/mobile OS.

What's an I-phone? Is that some kind of Chinese knockoff?

:D
