Depends how badly you want the job.
If you really want it take the Focus.
If you are not bothered either way take the Mustang which will make you feel more relaxed /confident and if the interviewer sees the car and you don't get the job then you leave knowing they are watching you with jealousy and you have quite possibly ruined their day:D

Maybe this is a UK thing since the Mustang is so much more expensive to own there, but is the Mustang really that much more showy there that this is a serious question? I am 26 and just bought a GT and while I imagine people think I am driving dads car or something, I never really imagined people thinking I am showing them up by driving a Mustang. Now if it were an M3 or something, that would be different because of the BMW badge alone, but the Mustang is just a sports car here and in fact, was originally touted as the "every mans sports car" when it originally came out, which I think it still is.

its the other way around here BMW's are mass market crap everyone has one (I have an office full of 19 year olds with bm's on finance up to the nackers for £200 a month!)

The mustang is rare over here and because of that its seen as expensive.

Most people who've commented on mine seem to think its a £60-£70k car and are shocked when I tell them its sub £40 especially considering the equiv to the stang over here is probably the M4 which once specced up is nearly double the mustang value.

but either way you should never lose a job because of the car you drive.

Mustang all day long, they can't judge you or form an opinion on what car you drive. I take mine to client meetings all the time.

Don't forget every other car here within reason is a BMW or MERCEDES,and the Mustang is something new and pretty rare at present.I have had Porsche, tvr(an acquired taste I admit but superfast),merc ,Jag ,hotrods etc and absolutely the reception it gets here is spectacular,I would expect the same attention as the average Ferrari.Apart from that it sounds superb with aftermarket exhaust, goes well,is pleasant to look at and for the UK ....rare.

I agree I have spent a lot of time in the US and Mustangs are very common and often looking slightly wrecked so clearly it is not prized that much there.

Thanks for the advice so far everyone.

Most of the written advice is a very sensible take the Focus which I must admit was not what I was expecting.

The poll result is a clear take the Mustang :)

I don't need to make a decision yet so I'll let this ride for a while.

And thanks again. :)

I wouldn't give someone with a BMW a job....if they can't make good car decisions, they're unlikely to make good work decisions:lol::lol:

How much do you want the job ;)? Or how much do they want you. Arguably if you're anything like me taking it or not taking it would be irrelevant. As they'd find out about it pretty quick. I get some managers where I work above me who give me the 'youre stupid' look, others who give me the 'go you' and others who are like 'wtf jealous'

It all depends on how much you want or need the job. If you're not bothered then go get in the Mustang and go for a drive; f*ck the interview. If on the other hand you have a mortgage to pay then give yourself every chance. Can't judge you on the car you drive? Who says? The world is full of judgmental types. Plenty of time for making a point later ;)

And BMWs are crap...never gets old, does it...

Varies from country to country - the GT is a $150,000 car where I live. So about the equivalent of turning up in a brand new 911 Turbo in the USA!

LOL

I took the Mustang to an interview last May. They even noticed and commented on it. Got the job, but I am sure the car had NOTHING to do with it.
I loved interviewing while still gainfully employed. It took all the pressure off. They don't hire me? Their loss.

He's not going for a paper round buddy

It's to support his family and household, not just a mobile phone and a car :p

TBH getting a job is part of the plan to allow me to keep the Mustang.
Got to be Focus then Mark, you've got big trips planned as well ;)

Don't take the chance, don't be ostentatious ;)
