Hi
ive got a 2017 GT auto, V8 . When I park it for about a week or so and then get in to start it up, first depressing the brake pedal then pushing the start button sometimes nothing happens. All the start up lights on the dash come on but the engine won’t turn over. Eventually after several more goes it starts up. Any clues on what this problem might be ?

Battery could be correct. I'm also a 2017, but manual. Often it's the second or third attempt by the time the engine starts. I've always seen it as normal, but would say it's got worse as the car has got older - still on my original battery. I too leave my car alone for a week at a time.

Never thought to ask ford, or ask here for that matter!

Battery was my first thought too. One way to find out!

No, it's not normal. I just started my car (on the first shot) that's been sitting since November. Also original battery.

I should clarify - majority of the time it fires up on the first button press. But maybe for every 5 attempts, I'll have one where I have to try again. Never failed to start though.

Thanks All,
I’m now thinking it might be going into sleep mode so I will experiment by waiting 30 secs after I push the start button for the system to initialise. If not i will check with Ford dealership. Apparently these cars have a deep sleep mode that reduces battery drain - you can google it if you are interested. Cheers

BINGO ! that's exactly what's going on. Every digital device does it.

When the display or instrument panel presents itself light it up.
