Hey guys, i need some help figuring out what is going on with my 2015 V6.

One day i found my garage floor full of some pink fluid, and after looking under the hood i realized the coolant container was almost empty so clearly it was leaking. I took the car to a mechanic thinking it would be an easy fix but to my surprise they said there was no leak and that the system held pressure for over 24 hours, they topped of the coolant fluid and told me i could just drive the car as if nothing happened, which i think is 100% crazy.

I decided to find the leak myself, maybe they did not try hard enough so i tried leaving the car in the garage overnight but no leak, tried leaving the engine running in my driveway for 20 minutes, no leak. Tried driving the damn thing like i stole it for 30 mins, no leak. After driving like crazy i put it back in my garage and waited for it to cool down, no leak.

So now i am wondering, what the hell could have happened that caused almost all the coolant to leak in my garage?! And now there is no leak anymore? This is crazy! lol

I really hope you guys can help me figure this out because right now i have no idea what to do and i also cannot drive any long distances because if that leak just comes back i may not be able to reach my destination without damaging the engine.

Thanks in advance

Could be as simple as the expansion/contraction of the rubber hoses on coolant overflow or any coolant hoses to engine.

Check all clamps - if screw style clamps, tighten or snug screws if loose.

There were older threads on here where M6G members were finding that the outlet on the coolant overflow was cracked, which would allow coolant seepage. Again it was not always leaking due to expansion/contraction events due to weather or temp conditions.

If there are no obvious signs of leakage, I would inspect the water pump weep hole and the HVAC drain tube for signs of wet/dried coolant.

Have a 2017 Mustang with the V6. Yesterday after a 30 minute drive smelled coolant when I arrived home in the driveway. Moved the car to see if it was leaking and there was a small puddle on the driveway. Checked the coolant and it was still near the max line. Put a cardboard in the garage and overnight only a bit of coolant was on it from when I parked it. Coolant didn't leak out at night so I drove it today but no leaks happened.

Anyone can point me on where the outlet on the coolant overflow is? Where is the water pump weep hole is? HVAC drain tube is? Any other tests before I bring it in to the dealer?

Coolant overflow is the plastic tank with coolant in it.

The weep hole is on the water pump near where the pully exits.

Not sure why you need to check the HVAC drain.

FWIW, I went crazy trying to find a leak in my V6. Changed the overflow tank and it stopped (after changing the radiator). It was cracked along the tab that fit into the rad housing. Check there first.
