Interior Door Locks Question

I tried a search but I can't think of the right search term so nothing came up...

I just watched a news report of a police officer was struggling to get a driver out of a burning car because there was no manual interior door release (no electrical power in the car as the engine bay was on fire).

In my old S197, I still had a manual door lock release where the S550 now has an LED light on top of the door panel.

I don't have my owner's manual in front of me, and I can't recall reading about this, but in the event should I lose all electrical power, how do I open the doors from the inside if they are locked?

I believe if you use the handle regardless if it's locked from the inside it will open.

Also, unless the crash is severe enough to immediately knock out all power, the doors unlock automatically after the car comes to a stop. And if the crash is that severe, chances are the car will be so badly mangled the doors aren't opening even if unlocked.

The new cars will not allow the doors to be locked from the inside anymore.
Both of my cars even when locked, you can pull the inside handle and it unlocks lock.
Now I believe that function is purely mechanical in the Mustang. The problem you might have is the window won't lower if there is no power so you would have to push the door open.

I do have one of those window breaker things on a flashlight with a seat belt cutter. You can get them at any Canadian Tire.

It doesn't take much of a hit to the front to prevent the door from opening do to hitting the front fender. Shouldn't the Fireman have Jaws or a window breaker

Since when are side windows not made of tempered glass?? That lady must've had some really strong window tint on her windows.

according to the comments, the side windows in this vehicle were laminated glass, which would be like trying to break through the windshield. some manufacturers (eg. mercedes) use it to reduce cabin noise. unfortunately those window breaker things would not work that well in this case, but at least we won't have this problem on the mustang as the side windows are frameless.
