Interior Door Hole

Hi....

Can somebody educate me what is the function of the open hole on the door interior?

I have put caps on the screws and need to know if i should cover also this hole or not.

Not with any thing that cant be removed and replaced easily other wise it just get broken or result in tool marks from a tech trying to get it off/out
