I wanted to see gear#, rpm, mph, and the 3 gages I chose for Diff CHT Trans temps. My left hand blocks gear# often but I care more about mph.

Cooling is back under control again and so I monitored tire pressure more than anything else last weekend at NCM.

I will move the headrest cam further left and see if my helmet doesn't block the info so much.
A cheap OBD plug in will get you gear & rpm. The Catalyst GPS already covers mph.

Another option is a helmet-mounted camera. That should achieve the correct viewing angle to capture everything on the gauge cluster.

This is my setup. Track Addicts and a $30 OBD plug. Shows throttle %, rpm, gear, mph, and all the standard track info.

My 80/20 drivers headrest mount, gopro mount approx 9" from right post of headrest. Some have expressed safety concerns in the past, maybe if i got thrown out of my seat and got pinned between a rigid part of the body and the end of the mount. That's a risk i'm willing to take.

any of the white delrin components could probably be replaced with wood.

i can't read anything temps etc on the digital display at 1080p, a higher res might be able to do it, but my gopro3 battery barely lasts 1 session as is. Exposure control is bad on my gopro though.

slightly different position and the temp section is blocked, left handers having worse visibility

Will it work with video from my dashcam?

Possibly.
Track Addicts automatically pulls in the data from the OBD and overlays it on the video but I'm sure software like Racerender or similar could combine the two just as well.

They sell pass-through battery doors so you can charge it while in use. Life saver for track use. Mine stays charged all day. No need for extra batteries.

I would think that a helmet mounted cam would show you everything without obstructions. Or is the head movement to radical for solid viewing?

I have yet to review my video from the new location. I will let you know.
But I thought about mounting the little stick-on camera to the side of my helmet. I'd just have to remember to plug in the cable, and then remember to unplug before getting out!
