Buy a 2015 GT fastback loaded, PP, premium, NAV, Recaros, etc. or a new 2014 GT500 loaded with the same options?

I am in this quandary ATM and having a hard time on which one I would buy? I love the 2015 body, love it a lot. Much more than the 2014 body style.

Tough choice, very tough.

I put myself in the same dilemma as a friend recently. They're looking to buy a '13 Boss 302 and that will cost around ÂŁ40k........similar to what a loaded GT is likely to cost here in the UK. What would I buy? Tough choice. Very tough.

For me the Boss (or GT500) is an iconic Mustang, where as the GT is, well, just a very nice Mustang.

I guess it depends on how you'll use it. Daily driver or weekend toy you'll keep for a long time?

I think the '13/'14 GT500 may well be as revered as the '69/'70 Boss 429. A big bad bruiser of a Mustang.

But a loaded '15 GT will be a very, very nice place to spend a lot of time.

I guess its a nice problem to have :)

I want a car that I can drive and not keep in the garage and be afraid to take it out. I also don't need to have the fastest thing out there with the most HP.

A GT is more than adequate for me, and the 2015 will have other benefits. Improved dynamics and handling, better interior, and more tech features.

It would be my daily driver but I work from home, which means I drive about 6k miles a year. I would keep the GT500 forever, where the GT I can see trading it in in 3-4 years.

I agree on the 13/14 being held in the same breath as the 429's later on down the road.

I am really leaning towards the GT500.

All great points!

I agree that it's a tough choice, especially if they price of a GT500 was so low that it was around the same as the new 2015 GT, both loaded. However, I think you're going to get a better vehicle overall by going with the 2015. I mulled this around quite a bit myself, and came to the conclusion that even if I had that big beautiful beast with all that power, I'd see 2015's rolling around town and beat myself up for not being patient and waiting.

With the 2015, you're getting a lot for your money. Even with the additional power of the current GT500, I'm thinking that the GT + PP will be VERY good on the track, and better on the street where I'll use mine 100% of the time. Plus, add some mods and you'll be on par or better than the GT500 from a power standpoint. From what I read, we're getting a lot of the B302 motor which should allow it to be supercharged/turbo'ed more easily, while retaining durability.

GT500 NO QUESTION. The 2015 will be a dime a dozen once it hits the dealer lots.

Here is how I look at the question..

If you had a 2015 Mustang would you be envious when you see the '14 GT500? If you had the '14 GT500 would you be envious when you see the 2015 Mustang? Something tells me (since you say you love the 15 body style a lot more than the 14) you would answer yes to the last question more than the first.

If you care about the exclusivity then the GT500 obviously scores points in that department but sounds like you are using this as a DD and have to look at it every day. All of that considered I would go with the 2015.

The results of this poll would probably be the exact opposite if it was taken at SVTP lol.

Definitely would prefer a new loaded 15 GT though.

The answer lies completely in what your personal priorities are.

If your priorities are exclusivity and raw straight line performance, and you're okay with missing out on the updated looks/design of the S550, then the '14 GT500 is a good choice.

If overall better handling and compliance on the streets (or track), better interior and updated exterior are important to you, and insane power levels are not a top priority, then the 2015 might be a better option.

One thing that you did not mention as a factor is the price difference between the two options. A loaded GT500 is going to be considerably more expensive than a similarly loaded '15 GT... like to the tune of $15-20K I would think.

You may also want to consider the option of simply waiting until this time next year, when the GT350 will presumably be available. Then you would be able to enjoy the best of both worlds...

Good feedback from folks.

It would be my daily driver but as I mentioned above, I am 100% virtual and only head into the office an average of 5-6 days a year. All my driving is for errands or taking my son to baseball practice or cruising.

Cost will be likely 15k more. I am just so mesmerized by that big engine not to mention with having a Shelby. Always wanted one but never did buy one.

Still a hard decision. I have reached out to a couple dealers that still have new 2013's in their showrooms. Curious to see how much they will take off on the price.

I haven't even thought about that option until now...I would still go 2015 since it has all the goodies and updates. Myself, I'm waiting for the presumed gt350. I want a track car, at the same time it's going to also be my DD and I don't care lol

I leased my current car in preparation for the 2015. That means I need to have my car sometime in September or close to that timeframe.
