You’re leaning to much on Ford Perf. for answers they’re not interesting in answering.
5W-40 is far from track day oil.
M6G search feature is your best friend on this forum board.
So I’ve learned! They’ve answered none of my questions via email.

If M6G is right at all, 5w-30 is going to be the winner for me for street driving.

As a cheap DIY-er it’s just the most feasible to buy and burn vs some of the more viscous options.

Where I live Winter visc is pretty irrelevant, seeing them run 5-50 makes me feel just fine sending it with 5-30.

Unless driving behaviors change dramatically a 30 “warm” visc should be just fine.

Oil is a finnicky question and I know everyone has an opinion lol.

I’ve used all kinds of shit in all kinds of cars and I haven’t grenaded a single thing yet. I am very much one to change it early and often though.

You can try a length of pipe insulation around the top of the box to try help seal it. I'm trying that first, and if it doesn't work, the gt500 airbox is next, lol.

It's easy to seal, just get some plexi glass, or like I did, some heavy cardboard and trim to fit the slot next to the area where the rubber is.

I have pics in a thread here somewhere.

I might just do that if it’ll help IATs. Plexiglass preferably!

I'm a cheap bastage when I can be. It won't totally cure it, but helps a lot, especially at stop lights and drive through's. Highest temp I've seen since the cover is 125 waiting at a McDonalds for what seemed like forever. Temps drop quick once moving.

Cheaper than a 500 box and cover, for not much better performance. The 500 set up does look much better. I painted mine black so it looks not out of place.

Truthfully can’t be bothered to dump more cash in this thing if it doesn’t produce something tangible.

I’ll definitely go that route if I’m displeased with IATs.

The factory box was really really good at what it was designed for, and although open elements are badass to look at and hear I recognize the downfall.

What cutting is required? As far as I know it's drop in and forget. You just have to run some foam tape around the portion that the snorkel sits in since the GT/GT350 snorkel is smaller than the 500 one.

Intake is on, fuel rail/system is back on and connected.

More to come tomorrow.

Coolant lines to heater core/fire wall are really, really funky to fit with the factory brackets/plastic.

instructions state to skip insulation, some vids include it.

not worrying tonight, it’ll be wrapped up tomorrow.

Loading the calibration might happen tomorrow as will the test drive, more to come.

Stock air box or GT 500 box. Been through all of that. Best IAT’s so far are with a closed box.

The only thing needing modification is some foam tape to seal the box to the intake duct/tube. The GT500 tube is slightly larger than the GT350 tube that comes with the FP PP2.
