Is there a better way to drain this catch can? I've had it for a while now and still have just the plug in the bottom.

Just drained mine. I was amazed how much oil it caught. Only had it on for about 2 months. Super easy to install just a pain removing all the platic pens on the radiator support thing to drain. Love the placement though. Out of the way and quality design. Thanks again!

Nice video and a catch can was on the letter I sent to Santa. ;)

Do you have a video showing the steps to drain the can? Do I have to remove the radiator cover to get to the knob? Is there room to get my hands in there to unscrew the bottom?

The cans that mount to the strut tower seem easy to access, but I like your design. If I have to empty the can every oil change or sooner it has to be easy to access.

Also, whose radiator swirl tank is that? One of those is on the Santa letter as well.

They also have a scaled down version with nearly the same internal design, which can be mounted on the strut tower. I think it's the SC remote mount. Also, that catch-can can be unscrewed for draining vs having to unmount and remove the plug to drain.

The knob is easy to access without having to remove the radiator cover. You only remove it for initial install. For draining there is a drain plug on the bottom of the can. Wish it was a twist off can though, I think it is a cleaner method.

I agree on the drain. It was my favorite can but I sold it because I got tired of getting teflon tape and a wrench to drain it. If it was a twist off bottom I'd buy it again.

Was there enough room to put a ball valve to drain it? Also, why would they use a hand knob to secure the can to the bracket if you don't need to remove the can to drain it?

I want to buy the can that will be the easiest to drain. My career has been in process manufacturing where we strive to make maintenance easy to do ensuring it gets done.

The issue is here is no room for a valve. It works very well but isn't easy to drain the correct way.

you need to remove the can to drain it (hence the knob), no room for a valve underneath. just dont get why their other cans are twist off, pour out to drain but this one is a plug drain...lol

The one thing that I have had problems with on my 4 chamber UPR can is that the O-ring gets stretched out when you unscrew the can and then won't fit when you go to screw it back together. I've had this happen twice. UPR did send me some extra O-rings but I don't want to have to replace O-rings every time I empty it. That is one of the reasons I quit using it. I feel that the O-ring they use is too small and thin on this model. I never had this problem on their original design can.

The new cans are red loctite'd shut and drain via a plug on the bottom. No worries about orings, just have to apply some tape to the plug when reinstalling.

Also, i just installed the 5030-98. At first I couldnt see how it would fit, and I sent an embarrassing number of emails to Steve as I tried to figure it out. It just took some extra messing with it to get it positioned how I was happy. Thanks for the help Steve.

The problem is I just cant keep buying a new UPR can every time UPR upgrades their cans. I'm already on my second version of the 4 chamber can. They have also done a few upgrades to the interior setup since my version. I also had to take out both of the fittings because they started to seep oil to put teflon tape on them and scratched one of them up pretty good since there is no good way to tighten them back up.

The version I have still has the perforated diffuser rings and the newer versions that I have seen pictures of have solid diffuser rings. I was still getting oil into the line going to the intake so maybe the solid rings help keep this from happening.
