I'm looking at the purchase of "R" wheels to put on my 2019 GT 350. I thought that just
longer studs needed to be installed. I stopped by the Ford dealer to inquire and was
told that the rear hubs are different ? Am I missing something or is there more to this
whole deal ?
Thanks for your clarification & education in this mater.

No personal experience in this arena, but I’m pretty sure there are a few YouTube videos walking through the procedure. I’m pretty sure you’re correct, you’ll just need longer studs for the retrofit.

On a side note, are you going carbon fiber or just R size? I know someone just down the road from you with a set of Carbons for sale.

Yes Jon, I am looking at the real factory "R" Carbon Fiber rims. I would certainly check your source out also.
Thanks

Either studs or new hubs will get the job done. Me personally? I'd just buy the hubs and not have to change-up each stud on each corner.

I did this exact mod on my GT350. The dealership told you the hubs are different because the studs it comes with are different. The hub itself without the studs pressed in is the same part. You can buy GT350R hubs, or you can buy GT350R studs... like Tomster said.

You have to take the hubs off to replace the studs on the rears anyway. So you can go either way.

When I did mine, I replaced the hubs so that my original hubs were kept in one piece (stud intact) and I could switch them out if I want to go back to stock. I wanted 2 sets of hubs. FWIW, it's cheaper to just swap studs, but IMO it's a little more work

Ok gentleman, thanks for your explanation & sensible approach to addressing this issue.
I'll be tracking down some rear hubs.
A similar approach on the front hubs would be in order ?

Replace all the hubs. Simple. Done.

Or pound out each stud and replace them.

Your choice.

Ray,
Did mine a couple years ago. I started not knowing that the hubs had to come off. D'oh. Since I already had the studs, I just pulled all the hubs. I used my 20T press to r&r the studs, and reinstalled the hubs.
If I was going to do it again, I don't know that I would spend the extra money on the hubs. Removal and replacement of the studs was the quickest easiest part (if you have a press).

funny how this topic came up. I was alerted to an ebay listing due to a standing search and came up with a complete set of R wheels for $3700. I immediately passed this along to a good friend who grabbed them.

I almost bought them shortly after listing. Was considering painting them like the original GT350R show car ;)

PS - price adds up quick. Those will be $3900 landed, then tires, TPMS and they still need to be painted to be perfect. People wonder why a perfect set w/tires and ready to install sell for $10k.
