I plan to do an inner CV joint rebuild on several like new half shaft takeoffs. The shop manual has the procedure and it is very straight forward. However the procedure directs that the joint cage circlip and the housing retaining ring be discarded after removal.

I stopped by my parts department today and I was told you can't buy those parts.

Does anyone have any idea if these parts are available as standalone parts? I dont get how the shop manual would direct that they are a one time use, but you can't buy the parts as standalone.

He said “like new”. I don’t see a problem.
The amount of work it takes to replace two halfshafts is a lot. On top of that if you have a 3 day track weekend and you blow a halfshaft, you are SOL. Thats about $3,000 wrapped up on a track weekend that depends on a part that should have been replaced when the CV was rebuilt.

So I hear where you are coming from, but the thought of taking a chance on 10 or so dollars worth of parts is not what I would do.

There all the same from 07-21.
The reason I say is that the oem boot size is specific to the 500.

Do you have any more info on this part?

I went to parts.ford.com and using my VIN, it says the part does not fit my vehicle.

4b422 designates the inner circlip for the 500 shaft which locks it into the differential.
