Hmmm...makes me wonder what these would do on a stock tune.
I've been wondering myself. Over the last couple of weeks I'm torn between this intake or just keeping my stock box with a AEM drop in filter and getting the Airaid modular intake tube. I'm waiting on the FRPP tune to come out but I don't know what effect that will have with either one of these intakes...

Update...

Been working on a tune with Greg at Lund for the past couple days. All I can say now is WOW!!!:headbang:

Part throttle response is much improved. Seems to recover after each gear change much better now. As for the much anticipated maf #s....they now meet and exceed the Roush! At 7200 rpm, the Roush was at 42 in lbm per min, INJEN is at 44.4. On course for a Friday track visit.

Though its not apples to apples comparison my stock intake with panel filter the maf is at 42 in lbm per min at 6800rpm on SCT 93 canned tune. My front grill is opened up and I am also running a Velossa big mouth.

I have Airaid MIT and JDM tune incoming with 7200rpm limit, so I shall re-datalog to see if the MIT has helped improve flow.

Not datalogged the MIT on SCT tune yet, but throttle response is improved and car has a slightly deeper tone.

I am waiting for my JDM tune with 7200rpm rev limit and I shall then datalog again. But I've done everything to maximise the stock intake by opening up grill, velossa big mouth, panel filter and now the airaid MIT. :)

Great thing is intake temps remain 2-3c above ambient tempts. :)

Thanks! I've been on the fence about getting the MIT, but I think the data you've presented thus far sold me. The fact that you can get 42 lb/min on the stock box shows how well designed it is overall. I've already got the panel filter. At that point I'll be set once I'm ready to get a tune (probably after warranty is over).

Can you tell me if the MIT requires a soundtube delete? I've heard it's a b!tch to get off and I don't want to get my hands too dirty :D Also does the MIT have a removable sleeve for when I want to get tuned?

Get yourself these and just cap off the intake and resonator end of the tube if you want to remove it the quick and easy way:

Here's how it looks in my car:

42lb/min was with stock rubber factory tube by the way.

I need to re-datalog with MIT soon, in theory it should be better.

Speaking of boost--would this intake work with a velossatech big mouth? Is the snorkel opening the stock shape and in (roughly) the stock location?
I'd like to add something here. Bare with me, I've had an exciting two days since I started following this thread.

My Big Mouth, on a stock air box, has yielded a peak of 1.1psi and will maintain 0.7psi until about 100mph when punching the throttle in fourth gear from a boil (3500rpm or more). I can't say how long it continue to maintain that boost, as I have to lift at about 100mph - my driving record and insurance rates suck. That seems to be the beginning of the sweet spot for the positive air box pressure the Velossa rep mentioned in his Big Mouth thread.

We're Injen and Velossa meant to be?

I tried my best Bill Nye and pulled the whole front clip, yanked the VBMouth, put the clip back on and hit the back roads. No boost, all vacuum in 64 degrees, 5900' and 68 degree IAT. Went back home, put the VBMouth back on and hit the road at 63 degrees and 66 degree IAT And peaked at 1.1psi. Played in 1st-3rd gears and fourth gear speeds are where it's at. Only saw fifth when I lifted, so it was all vacuum in the teens.

The VBMouth matches up nicely behind the triangular part of the upper grill and holds itself firmly on the snorkel, to answer your question and get back on track. Mine is fully exposed as I did a grill delete this winter and added the Custom Car Grills hex mesh kit, leaving the 4 triangular end pieces off (looks sweet from the right angles). Sorry about the pic quality, but I can assure you it is designed nicely and marries right up to the back of a deleted grill and is firmly in place.

I'm likely to go with the Injen air box as I don't like the look of the others available right now and especially after seeing GTBOB's boost pic. Need to speak with Lund about all this once the Benjis can be put in play tune wise and the hopefully the Injen is ordered same day. I'm sold on the design in form and now, function too. I am concerned with filter options - I need to look into that, unless anyone has some insight there.

I guess I'm wondering aloud how much momentary and maintained boost I may see with these paired?

I'm going to try to get some video of this (just got back from testing this out - these number are hot off the grill). Tried to video it, but it's a bitch with T-Rex hands and an iPhone 6Plus. Steering wheel vibrations blurred the first 2 too badly to even get a good still photo of peak boost and when I got a peak of 1.1psi I was filming my damn finger because tiny butterfingers (I know - video/pics or didn't happen). I included the best image I captured while maintaining boost, control of my car and decent aim with a damn tablet camera.

It may take sometime, but if I go Injen, I'll try to get some video of the same scenarios then too.

Stoked on this thread and intake - hopefully the restricted, no tune dyno numbers are exciting, then I won't have to wait until I tune, which is 10k miles from happening.

Its not boost, its RAM AIR effect that it caused, because all the air entering that opened up area of the grill is not affecting your aero-dynamics or causing hood lift in anyway.

As the Velossa Big Mouth seals up against the grill meaning all the air that enters is forced into the air box and the faster you go the more RAM AIR effect, as I've said for weeks now this will give the car a little boost especially at higher speeds. Even BMW and Porsche claim such ram air effects can give boost of around 10BHP.

I shall try to remember to check my boost/vacuum gauge to see if I have boost as well. ;)

Now im highly considering a big mouth and a grille change while i'm at it.
