Thanks for comments and concerns. Half way embarrassed to say that I'm kinda lost with a lot of stuff on this car, the blower function wasn't ever really something that had my interest till this happened. Next days and weeks, I'll get some answers on things.

Highest octane where I live is 91, but I'm also at 5k feet, so there as long as I don't hear pinging going on at the higher RPMs, I think that'll be alright. But let's be honest, between the blower and freaking loud exhaust, I ain't hearing much at all.

Perhaps I'll try and find out who everyone uses for tuning and take it in one of these days to try and get some answers. That's part of the joy of living in a rural area, everything is a drive.

There is a way to tell if you’re running a tune through the nGauge. What does it say from the main menu “tuning” screen? Is there an as card in the slot? You should be able to see all the tunes on it from the tuning screen. If there’s none there, original owner was using it just as a gauge. When you first turn power on, what does the screen say? Lund Racing, Palm Beach Dyno or generic HP Tuners screen? I see boost is there as well so using a boost box omega as well. As far as previous owners, do you not get a used vehicle package in the US? In Ontario anyways, we have to purchase one to sell a car and it lists all previous owners as well as any claims / accidents or anything reported like that. Friend bought a car with 6 previous owners and 20k+ in accident damage and didn’t realize it until after he actually looked at once he was home. Not a mustang but a 2 year old minivan lol.

You can also monitor knock using the Ngauge which would give you an indication of how safe the tune is on the 91 octane.

It’s already set up to watch KnockR on the gauge. The PIDs on the gauge that are being monitored are good ones - likely previous owner had a handle on things. I would want to know for sure what tune it’s running though.
What does the flash screen on the gauge say when it powers on?

Limited time on response due to obligations. Pulled out gauge after getting off from work, saw a disconnected wire (white) to the back of it. Cursed, placed back in and started car. Nothing. Cursed again, touched screen, nothing, drove home.

Pulled up to last street before house, dang thing is on and working. Just praying it's not a sign of things to come. Was able to snap a few photos, wasn't able to identify what it said when it powers on, it did it ninja mode.

Looks like its tuned by Lund racing. Maybe you can contact them for more information.

It appears to have a BoostBox on there. The white wire should plug into the empty terminal. That’s an easy fix.

It looks like you’re going to need to strip back some of the insulation on the wire, tin it with solder and then plug it back in to get a good connection.

Good chance it was tuned by whipple and they tune for 91 octane. Best bet is to get compression test just for piece of mind and ensure the motor is healthy. I doubt the car was done half ass since most that do them half ass are short on funds and skimp on the install. The car would have been de-modded if the seller was hiring for money, just my 2 cents.

Tuned by Lund is obvious. Not sure where the shop got that it was tuned by whipple. One look at the nGauge tells you it’s locked to Lund. We’re you able to see if there’s any other tunes on there or just the one. I posted the nGauge manual earlier.

I agree with above though about not half assed. Has the right parts.

I would reach out to Lund though for sure with the device serial number and see if they’re able to trace it back and let you know what’s actually on it tune wise.

Good luck!

If it’s tuned by Lund, you can pay them for a revision service, data log and have them double check and tweak the tune (if needed), in case the previous owner changed some things since the initial tune, like adding a different pulley and didn’t adjust the tune. It’s cheap insurance when you’re likely making over 600 rwhp.

The vast majority of responses and replies here have been very supportive, which speaks a lot about the culture of this forum. Naturally, there will be things that I and we don't agree soon, and we should each take that with a grain is salt.

However, very encouraged to be here. Still brand new here and as I figure out the etiquette, I'll try to avoid making myself a target and contributing as I can.

Nice S550 for sure - and what you have there is a good package that someone took the time to piece together well with good parts.

After seeing the pics, I saw the ad for that S550 - you made out well. IIRC, it was advertised as having at least 825hp, and has a Whipple Gen 4 2.9 Stage 2 and oversized heat exchanger + other mods on it.

The exhaust - someone definitely did a nice conversion there. The rear bumper cover valence looks to be aftermarket allowing for the quad tips (2015-2017 only had dual exhaust from the factory). Also, looking closer at the rear mufflers, it looks like it might have actuators? I see what appears to be a flange at the face of mufflers where the tips mount. Wondering if someone possibly did a 2018+ active exhaust swap? Hard to say, but just an assumption seeing what appears to flanges. Unless the system is SS Borla or Magnaflow?

The wheels - that’s some $$$ right there - nice set of rims on it.

The car looks to have suspension work done as well, squatted nice and sits nice at the wheel arches.

Great looking S550, good luck with it and be safe - it’s very easy to make the ass end kiss the front end, especially one with power mods.

Just some friendly advice, do take it into consideration:
If it were me, since the car is low mileage plus modified - do yourself a favor... see if your current Insurance Co. offers an Agreed Value policy. If something ever were to happen to that car on a standard Ins. Policy, with the amount of mods done to it - they will never reimburse for the cost of those mods and will only pay out ACV (actual crash value based on Red/Black book and scrap values).

You want an Agreed Value Policy where you insure it at fair market value to what it would cost to replace it AND the mods. The actual Agreed Value will be stipulated in print on the Ins. Policy declaration pages and in the event of any total loss claim, you will be paid that exact Agreed Value and nothing less. If your present Ins. Co. does not offer such a policy, shop around and get one....

To determine Agreed Value get current value of just the car itself, then create a list of all the mods you can find on the car for what it would cost to replace those parts at current retail cost. The net total of car+mods would be your Agreed Value.

Your Shaker sound system:
All 2015-2017’s had 2 types of Shaker systems in a Premium model:
1) Shaker 9-speaker system, with no sub in trunk
2) Shaker 12-speaker system with sub mounted in trunk on passenger side. IIRC, I think the Shaker 12 was an upgrade and also had Navigation.

If you don’t have a sub on the passenger side in the trunk, that could explain the reason why its not meeting your sound expectations.. If it had the factory 12 Shaker, and someone removed the sub, the sub harness should be behind the trunk liner. If there is no sub and no harness, it’s the factory Shaker 9.

Very appreciative for your post. Insurance info and how to go about that will be on the list of priorities to get done soon.

As far as I know, the car wasn't advertised with any specific hp ratings, just that it has the whipple with the 3.875 (?) pulley. But who knows, quite possible it wasn't the first time it was advertised.

I haven't actually looked if there is a sub in the trunk with the Shaker system. But I have to tell you, it sounds like all the speakers are set up for that because they lack fullness. Not a deal breaker (way past that point) just something to get rectified sometime.

I'm asking the local scene of their experiences with tuners, find a shop with experience that can help hold my hand and navigate through the important stuff. Mainly that it's set up for dd and not causing additional stress on any of the components.

Experience yesterday: Fate is a funny thing. Getting brake work done on the family mover, loaded up wife, kid, and friend in the Stang to head to an event about 20 miles away.

Going from one hwy to the next, see a gt350 ahead going through the round about a, taking his time. Good God, thank you.

Get up next to him, open lanes for at least a mile ahead, roll down my wife's window and give the young guy a thumbs up. His hood is off (never got to see the front end) and hear a downshift. As loud as his exhaust was and mine, it didn't compare to my wife yelling.

I conceded the opportunity, having a vehicle with passengers and my kiddo, just not worth the risk of it all. So I fall back in line and earn some brownie points from my wife. I know it was the right thing to do but to have that chance on day 2 of car ownership makes me eager to test the waters.
