Not an uncommon thing it appears. My guess is that one of two things are happening:

A) car improperly loaded from the start due to laziness or failure to learn the correct procedure,

or

B) cars are loaded ahead of the 350 and the driver has to unload the 350 to get to them and is too lazy to put the 350 back on properly,

or

As John Boy and Billy say... Pick "C"...

C) a combination of A and B.

Doesn't matter which route, they're all 3 wrong choices and could lead to more damaged cars. Sucks!

It really sucks writing clear instructions for people and then seeing those people ignore said instructions. I bet there are some engineers at Ford who are super pissed! The accountants seeing all the extra money spent replacing messed up wheels can't be happy either.

I don't blame them at all.

What do you do? Ford must be beholden to trucking companies right now due to the demand.

It's sad. I would rather go and pick mine up from Michigan.

They rather the cheap route which usually cause more headaches or end up costing more in the long run. They should just invest in their own delivery trucks.

I'd suggest contacting Ford's North American Vehicle Logistics Quality Supervisor, Sean Grant, [email protected] (313) 337-8674 about the loading/unloading instructions not being followed. Especially if your vehicle was damaged.

Perhaps if enough owners make contact, either he or another responsible party, will take some positive action.

It's incredibly disappointing especially when it is posted as a visual reference on a sticker stuck to the window of the car! I'm glad mine didn't have damage but as soon as I got the picture of mine facing the wrong way, I felt my face turn a little red. I guess I take it a little more personally because in my profession as a loadmaster, we have guidance that tells us exactly how to load certain cargo, otherwise it can cause damage to the cargo, aircraft, or loss of crew and aircraft. Extreme example but when I'm dropping that kind of coin on a vehicle and that's the first thing I see, it doesn't exactly start your car purchase on a high note.

That's BS - the transport companies should be bending over backward to take care of and keep a good customer like Ford. It's pretty simple: If a Mustang gets loaded facing forward on a transport trailer, there's a good chance it will get damaged.

Both of the GT 350s that arrived at my dealer in last month were loaded the wrong way on the truck, and both were damaged underneath. In the case of my car, the bottom of the right fang and the underside of the front bumper cover were scraped. Fortunately, the mounting tabs for the spoiler molded into the bumper cover weren't damaged, but I have seen cars that hit the deck so hard that the mounting tabs were entirely ground off. Then the whole front bumper cover needs to be replaced and painted to match. That's a lot of expense for truck drivers not following the clear and easy instructions Ford provides. I've also heard that the aero panels under the engines of some cars have been damaged.

This is an inexcusable and preventable problem.

If the transportation/logistics people within Ford do not already know that they have a problem and have had for some time now then we are just wasting our time.

Ford charges us for the transportation of our vehicles therefore they choose the rail or OTR trucking firm that delivers our cars to our dealerships and have to know they have some serious issues based on numerous service failures.

Don't blame the rail lines and various truckers for their service failures if the Ford Motor Company does not hold them accountable and take a proactive approach in the interest of improved service standards!

Depends on the terms of the contract between Ford and the transportation company, Ford would claim the cost of damage repair against the transporter, and the transporter's insurance company would pay according to what is in the contract. The transporter would see an increase in their insurance premium at the next renewal. That's about it. Whether they will do anything to improve will be everybody's guess, unless Ford gets piss off enough and not renew the contract.

Contract aside Ford has a problem with it's current carriers and they need to address the service failures of their present rail and OTR carriers.

This issue will not go away by looking the other direction.

When I called Ford Performance about this issue, they said they'd like to hear from owners who have experienced this problem, because it's not something that's been reported to them very often.

Ups is in charge of the shipping logistics. They can't even handle a small 1 pound box with care. Let alone a vehicle. I know they are not the shippers but they do all the logistics

I guarantee the damage was from the railroad, not the driver, because drivers would have to pay for damages. I would never load the last vehicle backwards, you would get an overweight ticket which also cost money

Funny. I picked up mine on Tuesday and someone on a local forum took a picture of a GT350 on I-95 in Maine on a truck. Turns out it was mine and poor car was loaded wrong as well.
