Why? The Mach 1 is a literally a GT350 with a Coyote motor….which is much more reliable
by leaps and bounds.
A friend has blown his M1 up twice. Bone stock. I've blown my 350 up (technically a slow failure) once.

They all have issues. And having driven both, and M1 is not a 350. Both are special though.

Anecdotal stories are always fun. The truth is that the Voodoo vibrates itself to death. They literally just shoved in a FPC inside that engine, when it wasn’t designed for it at all. 😂 Just go look at the latest Jay’s Leno garage episode, when FP’s Dave Paricek stops by. He briefly mentions this when discussing the GT350.

And if you also watch the video, he said they addressed it. Now, is it 100% bulletproof, no it’s not. It still vibrates as that’s the nature of the FPC but Pericak clearly states it doesn’t vibrate nearly as much as it first did. Also, there’s many examples of folks here with high mileage Voodoo’s, boosted Voodoo’s, etc. that haven’t blown up. Tell them it’s not reliable. Do they have a higher failure rate than the 5.0? Yes, most likely (nobody knows the actual stats except Ford). Is it infinitely higher, I’d be surprised if it is.

It’s a cool engine with a unique sound to it, suits the 350/R perfectly IMO. I shopped them for a while, would not be scared to own one at all

Right. He still works for Ford, he’s not going to say it’s a problem. And yet, Coyote and Predator didn’t have that issue…both CPC.

Wait…didn’t Ford update oil filter instructions, and to a cartridge-style oil filter for the Voodoo? Oh that’s right, it was a vibration issue. They sure got it “under control” after production, didn’t they? 😂

Also, most of the unique sound comes from the stock unequal length headers. Go listen to Voodoo with aftermarket headers, sounds mighty close to a Coyote. And why does the Voodoo have a single TB/plenum when all other FPV engines have twins TBs/plenums? Wild stuff. Ford never designed the engine to be FPC, they literally just shoved it in there.

I would take a Grabber Lime gt350
If GL had been available when I ordered the Mach it would have been a no-brainer first choice. Probably my favorite Mustang color.

Was negotiating on a Grabber Lime R a couple years ago, beautiful color on these cars.
