My first car was a 76 Mustang II Ghia with a 302. I always use to joke, it was a great car if it started. It also had a laughable small gas tank, 11 gallons if I remember correctly. It was a quarter tank to drive anywhere.
As much crap as the Mustang II gets (and rightfully so IMO) it likely saved the Mustang from being wiped out like so many muscle/pony cars were during that time. Ironically, this was the car that started my love for Mustangs. My mom had a gold '74 4-cyl with a 4-speed when I was around 8-10 yrs old. She would let me sit in the passenger seat and watch her push in the clutch and then I would shift it.
