Hear the engine note change when I put the car in Track Mode compared to normal. It's not an exhaust sound, but an intake/engine sound. The engine just sounds more aggressive (but less deep) in Track than normal, for a given RPM.

Is this because the throttle opening is larger as the throttle signal is more aggressive (for a given amount of throttle input)? It sounds meaner!

Yes, I know the car has no active exhaust. Just wanted to hear if other feels the same.

use when pure performance is desired.
A performance oriented traction
control mode is automatically utilized
when Track drive mode is selected. In

track usage only and is not intended

I have only put my car in "track" mode a handful of times and do not notice the change. I have an intake which deleted the sound tube, so any "change in sound" that would have been amplified through it is not gonna happen on my car. Just do an intake and then

"Your engine takes on a more powerful tone"

all the time.

There definitely is a change of sounds and if somebody doesn't hear, suggest a doctor visit. Started a thread long long time ago about it too.

Its just the throttle response changing. Slightly higher torque demand for given throttle position.

Thanks guys. Your subjective thoughts + the objective data in the manual make me feel better. The difference is pretty distinct, but then I kept telling myself that its impossible as we dont have active exhaust nor does the power change with track mode (I didnt think of looking at the manual :-)). Apparently, Ford is changing enough engine parameters (which Dave Pericak also confirms in interviews - if you're interested in details he also specifies the increase in yaw allowed between the different modes) in track mode to make a distinct difference in the sound - which is confirmed in the manual.
