V8 has its perks and so does the turbo and V6

Try this...Convince the ol' lady to buy a mustang as well. That way you can get best of both worlds...Just don't let her get bit by the 5.0 bug as well.

So far, my idea hasn't worked but she definitely enjoys the passenger seat so I always say, you can get the turbo automatic and get great fuel economy and the awesome driving experience vice passenger experience...

^^^Definitely one of my go-to gifs. lol

I remember the first time I rode in a GT, after owning a V6. I immediately decided to stop modding my 2006 V6 at that point and just save up for a GT.

After riding in a GT500, I got the same feeling about modding my GT.

Now that I've seen the value of my 2007 GT, I realized it's best to just enjoy what you can afford and do things here and there to keep you excited about the car.

The EB is a blast to drive and I love ours, but it's tough to replace that 5.0 sound

Tough call OP, but not a bad situation to be in lol

Here's how you look at fuel mileage : When it says 50 miles to E, fill it up. :headbang::cheers: On average you would pay around $650 more a year in fuel for the GT. Its worth every penny!
Actually he'll pay less. Remember the EB has to use 93 (Premium) where the HP loss in a GT with 87 is like 1% with regular.

So you can get about 2-3 more gallons in the GT at the same price of filling up in the EB. Something like 15 gallons of premium vs 17-18 gallons of regular. If the GT is getting 20 combined, you you get an additional 40-60 miles out of the GT bringing it waaaay closer to the EB for the same gas cost.

I like your logic. I haven't tried any 87 in mine yet, even asked for 93 when dealer filled it, but will do a comparison soon. Still averaging 22mpg in my GT and it seems the Ecoboost is falling behind in mileage estimates.

Yeah hp/tq numbers are just numbers when you are looking at paper but the whole enjoyment of a nice v8 is hard to truly understand without first hand experience. Aside from my current truck the last v8 I had was my 04 gt which wasnt much from a performance stand point compared to a new coyote but I'll be damned if it wasn't the most fun I've ever had among all the vehicles I've owned. Although my high strung s2000 is a very special perfectly balanced car that I swear I'd never get rid of, I would describe a nice v8 powerband from idle to redline as what the s2000 feels like from 6000 thru 9000rpm. The gt was always whispering in my ear that sweet temptation "come on buddy, all that power is just a tap of the pedal away, you know you want to!"

I've always said I'd get another gt especially since the coyote 5.0 came out but didn't want to give up the s2000 for a car with a stick axle and said I'll wait till I can just afford to keep the s2000 and my truck and buy a 2011 gt. Now that the new gt is here with the IRS and looks to die for and 435hp for $30k new, sorry s2000, your time has come. The wife is fully on board with liquidating the s2k to put down on a new gt, compared to the s2k a gt is about 100% more comfortable and responsible choice for everyday use.

I bet any salesman that has a customer come in and assure that they are only interested in a ecoboost or v6 makes sure to have them test drive a premium gt if they can approve them for one. I give it at least a 50/50 chance they can be swayed with a test drive, even if it's some poor fool who can barely afford it.

I had the exact same experience...the choice was buy the EB and be pleasantly surprised by the power or buy the V8, mortgage all my clothes and be blown away.

People are really getting 20 mpg combined in the GT? I find that hard to believe. I guess we'll see when I get mine, but I feel like I'd be lucky to get 16 combined.

With about 850 miles so far, I am averaging somewhere in the mid-19s. That is about 60% in town and 40% freeway. I am on vacation right now though, when I go back to work next week the percentages will reverse and I think 20 will be achievable.
