It seems if you haven't anticipated when the light will turn and wait until it actually is green, you're not paying attention..
well... it's true. If you're paying attention, you'll know when the light will change.

Yea, the Mustang is a very polarizing car. Plenty of love, but plenty of hate.
Same here in So. Cal.

Tend to get alot of tailgaters for no apparent reason.

I've been feeling the hate from other middle aged men driving minivans/SUVs.
It happened 2x yesterday within 10 min in NJ.

1st time I was at a light, the SUV behind me honked like a crazy mofo bc I took half a sec longer getting into 1st gear. there's honking then there's angrily honking for no reason. after I got the car moving, the guy cut me off. I moved to a different lane. he saw me accelerating, then he started to accelerate, too! REALLY? dude really thought he was fast and furious in his Dodge Caravan? by the time I was in 4th gear, he was way way way way back. haha.

2nd time I was just at an intersection and the minivan dude behind me was beeping me angrily as well. I did not take long to move at all.

I'm getting the feeling that there are a lot of haters out there that see your Mustang then get mad at themselves for driving their family SUV/minivans.

what's up with the hate.
They may or may not be actually hating on your stang. Some people are just crazy. I personally never engage people like that and just ignore the behavior...

The biggest problem isn't the middle aged men in the minivans. It's the fact that it's Westchester. I grew up in NY and worked in Westchester for 2 years, some of the rudest people I've ever met. Beautiful area though.

it works well when you are the 1st in line at the light. you can anticipate the green light and get into 1st gear with perfect timing.

I've found myself "jumping the gun" a few times be in the middle of the pack at a light. I saw the car in front of me (sometimes 2 cars in front of me) just about to move, so I got into 1st gear, but the car in front of me suddenly stopped because s/he jumped the gun, too, causing me to hit the clutch and brakes. so now I wait 1/2 second longer until I see the car in front of me is actually moving then I get into 1st gear.

This thread hits it right on for me. People will see us coming in the rear view and intentionally move over to block and slow down. We can see them in the side view mirror looking back and laughing. Hopefully as mustangs get more popular, that subsides.

I felt the hate in New Jersey, not Westchester. I rarely see minivans in westchester, they are mostly luxury SUVs. people who drive Porsche Cayenne arent that mad at life.

I was trying to make a left turn out of a supermarket parking lot onto the main road when red light of the road hit. as I was just about to turn, this pick up truck sped up and stopped right in front of me, blocking me. he then turned his head facing me with a facial expression like...THATS RIGHT, YOU WAIT.

one other time I was trying to parallel park when the light was red. had my blinker on and was about to back up, but this car rolled up next to me, blocking me. aholes everywhere.

you see it all the time, you want to switch lanes to get off the highway. you signal, but people purposely speed up as if saying..YOU ARE NOT GETTING IN FRONT OF ME! same situation with merging into a highway.

People definitely ride my ass now. At stop lights people will pull SO FUCKING CLOSE to my car. If I can see the whites of your eyes in my rearview, you are WAYYY too close. If you can't see the bottom of my rear tires, you're WAYYY too close. Fuck those people.

If you're paying attention, you'll know when cross traffic is supposed to stop. But knowing that doesn't mean it's your turn to go. Some lights only allow left turns to go first, some allow only straight ahead traffic, some allow both. So it depends on the light and your knowledge of that particular intersection. Not to mention, just because cross traffic has a red light doesn't mean all cars will stop. There's always someone trying to sneak through or not paying attention to their light. It's good to anticipate, I agree, but best to wait and be safe. I'd much rather avoid a potential accident and get an occasional honk, than be the first out of the gate.

Well, you'll also know it's your turn to go because you've been paying attention. Anyway, who cares? haha.

In the end.... everyone should put their fucking phones far away and just pay attention to the road when they're driving. :headbang:

I would say that it isn't the car or you. You are just in the way of their supposedly self declared worthwhile life. They are more important than you are, see?

Just this morning I was being tailgated by a woman in a Suburu wagon going 77 MPH down the freeway on my way to work. She was flashing her lights at me like she wanted me out of her way....10 car lengths in front of me was the bumper of another car I was following so where was she going to go? She got impatient and passed me on the right when there was a break in traffic and I saw she had the back plastered with activism bumper stickers. She wasn't making much progress and jumped lanes again and cut off a semi to try to pass everyone which caused a momentary lock up of the semi brakes followed by a long air horn blast. It did not seem to phase her.

These people are just plain numb to the real world....

And for the record, I count my Pontiac minivan as one of my all time favorite vehicles. Not because of its driving dynamics but because of what it could haul for the fuel it used. What else can you get 6 kids into and go on vacation? A 15 passenger full size van and get 8 MPG? We used to get 26-28 with that thing on the open road full and the AC on. I don't know what people do if they have large families now. Of course that is probably one of the topics of the activism bumper stickers on the back of that Suburu wagon this morning...over population....LOL.

the best part is when someone tailgates you in the left lane on the highway, you move to the middle lane, then the person gets scared being the 1st car in the pack then slows down or moves to the middle lane, too to avoid a speeding ticket.

my friend bought a freaking van to transport his family/kids and his sister's family/kids. they live next door to each other so there's no point in driving 2 cars. it's huge. americans definitely overpack traveling with kids. In europe, most people are in small hatchbacks.

this monster carries 12 people.

I think in Germany you get a ticket if you don't have your car in gear before the green light, no?
