Anyone here hypermile their GT?
I certainly didn't have an illusions about MPG's when getting this car. I view this more of a fun challenge to see how much higher you can get above EPA values.

I'm curious what people can get. For shits and giggles I tried it on my commute into Baltimore with a 3.73 rear pp GT and did 30 MPG. I imagine I pissed off some people but the dichotomy was fun.

For those unaware the point is to be as efficient as possible and get the best possible gas mileage:

Use optimum gear at optimum RPM.
Take turns faster without braking. Brake as little as possible in general.
Use other vehicles to break wind resistance.

It would be interesting to see if its more efficient to go 60mph at a lower rpm in 6th, as opposed to 70mp at around 2200 rpm.

I do a 50/50 mix of city hwy on a PP GT and get 22.1 mpg, and that's being as mild as I can on the throttle

I have for maybe the 1st 1/4 tank. 28-30 mpg is doable if the ground is flat and you don't exceed 60mph.

I assume the most efficient for us PP guys is 6th gear and around 1,500 RPM.

Then again what do I know, I get 7-9 MPG with my E85 tune (and my right foot).

I managed to get 20.1 out of my auto car. It took a lot of effort, and I hated every second of it.

I'm averaging 18.9 according to the trip computer(I've checked it, it's pretty darn close on accuracy), 95% city driving. I don't go coasting everywhere and do punch the throttle but I manage things as best I can for everyday driving.

my daily commute and fun driving levels me out to 18.4 (35 miles each way. lots of hills). I managed 27.8 on a 140 mile trip recently. I've wanted to try hypermiling on my commute for a week just for fun, but there's just no way I could last that long without flooring it.

I didn't purchase the car because of fuel economy concerns.

I got a touch over 28mpg with my gt averaging 72-74mph on the highway, went 420+ miles on the tank. Have about 4500 miles on it and the overall avg since I owned it is 23.6mpg, its been to the track twice. Of course the whipple is on it now, so I imagine its going straight down from here on...

I hypermiled for 7-8 miles when I was bored and there was no one else on the road around me, managed an average of 32.2mpg driving 50-55mph, in 6th with a 3.55 rear end :D Not on a highway either, but a 55 county road with hills.

Likely not something I would ever do again, but it was fun to try lol
