I didn't purchase the car because of fuel economy concerns.
I do find it funny all these threads about saving gas, think of us in the UK, :frusty:
Whenever someone starts a thread off on the UK sites we always say

"if you are worried about the petrol, do not get a V8 Mustang"
for me I am less fussed about this one then I was with the S197 as this is a lot better on petrol
Must start having fun with the rev matching when she is run in, then I will see the petrol drop, but its a V8 baby
A few people who have bought the Cheap V8 car, are getting quite a shock when they see how far a tank full of gas takes you, and are selling them back to dealers

I find that the best way to hypermile is to push hard on the gas pedal. The miles go by hyper-fast.

I hypermiled for 7-8 miles when I was bored and there was no one else on the road around me, managed an average of 32.2mpg driving 50-55mph, in 6th with a 3.55 rear end :D Not on a highway either, but a 55 county road with hills.

Likely not something I would ever do again, but it was fun to try lol
But was it actually fun to try?

On my first trip with this car (NOVA to Columbus OH) I managed 28.2 MPG on the way there and 25 on the way back.

Since the car was so new I was VERY gentle with it. My avg now is still 19 something so it's better than my 14 V6....not sure why.

It was fun, since it wasn't something I had done before. I learned something new, then I moved on to my regular average of 17mpg lol
I wouldn't call that hypermileing. More like driving normally.
Hypermileing is replacing tires with skinny ones and pump them up to 50 psi. Taping all the gaps on the body panel and remove any excess unnecessary weight.

I would suggest taking your panties off before driving, then.
I drive pretty aggressively but automatic wants to keep it in 6th gear paired with 3.15 rear it just won't burn more gas under normal driving condition.

I drove a Volkswagen diesel (TDI)....40+ mpg in mixed driving for years. It got reeeeeal boring over time. I really missed my modified Mustang GT.
That's why I own a new 435 hp V8 Mustang now.

Im on E85 and average around 14mpg on the highway and 8-9 in the city. Its not my daily anymore so I dont care about MPG.

It was my daily for the first 8 months and I averaged 20MPG mostly hwy using 93 octane. 35 miles one way to work.

I tried a variation of this with my Civic Si a few years ago and didn't do anything for my mileage, you know I'd push the clutch in and coast down hills, coast the last ~mile to a stop sign, those sorts of things, plus rowing thru the gears quickly when starting from a stop. Seemed useless to me.

Disengaging the clutch when coasting makes a considerable difference. Revs drop down to 750 or so.
