The way people are having success with SCT right now is, the tune is originally written in another piece of software, then ported over to SCT.

The tune for all hand held devices is written in another piece of software. The hand held device is only used to down load an image file into the cars ECU plus whatever data logging and code reading capabilities the device has.

Umm. This is incorrect.

Sct and hptuners both write in their own proprietary software.

There are also a few other not well known home brewed softwares that various tuners use as well.

Now unless you mean the factory pcm configuration ford uses then yes I agree. But the aftermarket tuners are typically uses Sct and hptuners to modify and write their tunes.

Unless you're buying Sct pro racer or calibrator you cannot see what they do. Hptuners on the other hand is a full tuning suite.

What I was trying to say is the hand held device that you purchase is not used to create the tune file, it's done in another piece of software. I realize SCT has this software they sell to tuners

And what I was saying is Sct software is limited and the only way it works is to write the tune in another piece of software (not Sct) and then ported to Sct so then the customer can use their x4 to load it. The other piece of software I mention is not Sct advantage pro racer or calibrator
