Been debating going FI or not. My 2018 GT Premium is pretty awesome for the street and after much in my head debate, I'm thinking of doing some mods to up the RWHP to around 450 or a little better.

I want to keep the stock exhaust, but would add 1 3/4" long tubes to keep the torque up. So my plan is:

1) 1 3/4 long tubes tied to stock exhaust
2) Afe filter (I know this won't add any HP/TQ)
3) Tune with Lund or PBD for 93 which is readily available in my region, but add Boostane for 98 octane

Is this enough to get me there?

Note: No E85 where I am

Doubt it gets you 40-50hp without going on the corn. Order some corn from a distributor

A 93 tune, longtubes (get 1 7/8"), Cobra jet manifold and cams will make north of 500 whp.

For the goal of 450, tune and long tubes will get you there.

Get 1-7/8 you dont need 1-3/4 headers you have variable cams to account for low rpm torque loss.

Also dont fuck with the boostane. And try not to fixate on "X -Yhp"

Just run 1-7/8 Texas speed headers, knn drop in filter, and a tune. If you want more get a blower.

Focus on the way the car feels not what dyno numbers say. Dyno numbers mean nothing

FruityJudy,

How do you do get E85 when there is none in my region? Plus it's not feasible to buy a fuel storage tank, pump, etc. for around $1,500 - $2,000.00, plus a load of E85. Above ground fuel storage is not allowed in my residential community.

I'm not fixated on a number, but you have to have a goal or objective to go from point A to B.

I have read some reports of Mustang owners installing the 1 7/8 headers on a mostly stock engine and they indicate the results killed off a noticeable amount of low and mid-range torque. With FI, the bigger tube headers work very well. Hence, the 1 /3/4.

All headers will "kill low to mid range torque"

Its All bullshit, every dyno curve shows 1-7/8 makes way more power than stock in all rpms.

A coyote engine will "feel slow" even when making more power because it doesnt make torque like an LS and if its tuned smoothly with a long throttle it'll "feel" slow.

And I disagree with setting goals. Whats the point? Mod till you get the car to feel how you want it to feel. Or buy a blower and make whatever power number you want.

You’ll also need to turn it over 7700+ to make over 440whp NA almost every time. While the Coyote is a great revving mill, over 7500rpm + and the OPG’s are going to significantly see higher stress and harmonics.

Some of those guys do things like phasers locks or lock open their IMRC. Find a tuner than can use both of these and you will see different results. All about how you want the car to respond.

Not true. Long tubes will shift the entire torque curve up.

When in doubt, ask a tuner. They’ve seen it all.

I would agree that a tune and headers will get you around 430whp depending on the transmission. Hit me up if you would like to go over some options to get you to where you want to be.

My friend has a 2019 Mustang GT and she is making 460 to the wheels on stock exhaust, jlt intake, and stock manifold with e85 tune from lund.
