E92 M3 still has the best HP/torque curves of the lot. Absolutely incredible for nearly 10 year old technology.

But wow I can't believe the GT350 is 3rd on that incredible list of cars in terms of WHP :eyebulge:

Emissions is probably the main thing holding the Voodoo down. I'm sure it could've had as good of a curve if tuning was able to be optimized. I do love the E92 engine too though.

And remember that MT dyno test was in 100 degree heat on 91 octane California piss.

I give loads of credit to Ford for doing the VooDoo motor no denying it is a special motor in special car. I personally wouldn't buy one and even if I had just oodles of money it probably would not make my list. But I don't count myself as a Mustang affectionado.

Huh? You have over a thousand posts here, you had a Mustang that was featured in 5.0 magazine and you don't count yourself as a Mustang aficionado?

I added a bit more cars to the list. With that being said, the Vodoo engine is worthy of being in a 200k car and no one would complain about its performance, or exotic nature. It's just a phenomenal engine. Also I noticed cars like the Italia that claim more power yet they make less whp. I am sure it has to do with their transmissions but either way that's impressive for the Shelby.

More like Ferrari seems to claim a lot more power than they actually put out. The driveline layout should be efficient, but they always seem to dyno about 20% less to the wheels. They won't even allow people to put up dynos of certain cars like the 458 Speciale.

Maybe they make those numbers only in extremely optimal conditions and are very sensitive to ambient conditions due to a conservative tune…or maybe they're just lying.

Two things. I would love to put the vodoo engine in a Cobra kit car. Once the voodoo is available from Ford motorsports, I would consider putting it in my 1991 Fox Mustang.

To me it shows what a good engine the S65 really was in its time. It makes 103hp/litre, a super linear hp/tq curve and when you look at the performance of these cars they are still relevant even today. I know the MT test is not the end all for the GT350 tests but here is a car that makes 100rwhp more than the S65 E92 M3 yet it is only a few tenths quicker in 0-60 and the 1/4 mile especially when you compare it to a DCT car. You got guys like Drew (DLSJ5) who ran a 11.88 @118.8mph with just bolt ons and drag radials with his E92 M3. Sticky and Sered know who Drew is...he now has a 700+RWHP S65 blown M3 that just kicks ass.

In case any of you are non believers of this..

Sered and Sticky..glad to see you guys over here.:D

I have to kudos to Ford though...to make such an engine for a Mustang is an enormous feat and it makes me giddy with pride. Imagine later on when DI is added, more fuel economy and probably a 10-15% increase in hp.

While GM just basically takes its Corvette motor and just drops it into the Camaro, yes its cheaper to do it this way. If I owned a Corvette though I would be a tad bummed that my motor is now shared with a Camaro.

Maybe... But look at how efficiently the Porsches get that power to the ground... Benefits of a short driveshaft.

There is no driveshaft, the halfshafts connect right from the transaxle.

This was my question to Matt Farah with The Smoking Tire after he drove the GT350:

Matt I have one on order right now. Does this differ from other 8k RPM cars? (E92 M3, Audi RS5, etc) in terms of sound and feel or is this a different animal? I know those don't have the torque figures that the 350 has, but how would you describe the sound and feel at redline?

His response:

The closest engine I can think of is the Dinan 4.6 Stroker engine for the E92 M3. Similar power figures too
