I think my engine has a specific "tick" when hot, sounds a bit like a piston slap, but it could be a valve.. It's not very obvious, but you can hear it very faintly from outside also...

Here is a video of the tick, seems to be more audible on the passenger side bank, not driver side. Ignore the high pitched ticks, those are injectors... There is one in lower frequency which sounds like a valve to me ?

Thanks for any opinions. I am getting OCD with all these engine failures I read :)

My $0.02 -- Perfectly normal. In my experience, high-performance, tightly toleranced engine valvetrains all make noises like this.

If you want to make yourself feel better, drive an E46 M3 for a few minutes. All of the rattles, ticks and clunks your GT350 make are amateur in comparison.

I had one for a couple of years, but that motor was pretty quiet after I did a valve adjustment :)

Ya, the noise is present in my GT350 as well. But that's a normal noise according to Ford.

My car does the same noise or even worse after I discover oil level was below the first hole on the dip by half centimetre. Noise is a bit obvious even from outside. Here's a video.

Thanks all for the feedback.. Good to know it's normal.
Now mine is doing it only when warmed up properly, and no load on engine. If one of the fans comes on, or I start the AC, it goes away, must be some kind of chain/valve noise at idle when lesser oil pressure is present.

Where in MA are you? I am in the Woburn area by day and the 90/95 interchange at night. If you want to compare the cars (mine is a 2016 GT350 tech). Out to the Cape this weekend though
