How do you flip the front seat forward?

How do you flip the front seat forward to access rear seating?

  • I use the proper handle on the back of the seat. I'm not a heathen.

  • Who reads the Owner's Manual? The seat recline lever almost works just fine!

For me, almost. My passenger seat works perfectly this way. My driver's seat works this way half of the time, the other half it almost returns to that position but seems to be half a click off. What results is that the "recline lever" a the bottom of the seat is "up" and the back of the seat lever will not work again until I move the seat just enough using the recline lever to get it into proper "down" position. A tad bit annoying, but there are certainly worse problems in the world so I just deal with it.
I should know better. Original post corrected :):like:

My seat back latches are really stiff and generally don’t work, so I use the side lever.

I've honestly never had anything or anyone in the back seat.

I can't remember the last time I flipped the seat forward.

My backseat is used almost daily for school drop off (my 7yr old sits back there). I use the lever on the back of the seat and do find that from time to time you have to push back on the seat to get the handle/lever to fully release so you can push the seat forward.

I have noticed you need to make sure you pull the handle fully before the seat starts folding forward or it seems to lock.

My wife always seems to have an issue with the handle. Have to push the seat back sometimes to get it to work. She has no patience and goes for the lever.

I've noticed a bit of variation in how people access rear seating in these cars.
The handle on the seat doesnt work right on my car so i use the recline lever it works Every time...

Plus I'm almost sure the two are connected...

This has been my experience. You put some slight rearward pressure on the seat back and then pull the lever. I presume that this takes some pressure off the release and allows it to move easier. Once I learned this, I never have had a problem moving the seat.

They aren't, but they do use one of the same mechanisms.
As mentioned earlier the handle on the back allows the seat to return to the previous position while the recline lever does not.
