You will probably find what did still sat behind the bumper when you take it off

Good as new?

Decided to get the US ecoboost lower grille. I'm not keen on all these types of 'honeycombe' grille from a cleaning point of view, but having matching upper and lower sets does seem to look a lot better.

Meanwhile........

Gloss black vinyl sticker - looks slightly better than the gaping hole, like the bumpers of every single Mk1 Mondeo facelifted model you used to see.

Excellent work  no one will ever know :ninja:

Good choice on the EB lower grille, I must say - I had a hard time deciding whether to go with that or go with the GT grilles, both are nice. Look forward to seeing the results

The more I think about it, the more unlikely it seems that it was a freak 'stone'. The plastic is pretty thick and nobody else seems to have a stone punch straight through their grille. I'm sure I'd have heard or noticed if I'd driven into a random spike though and if someone drove into it, it's an odd area to damage being recessed an all. It did leave it at the Ford garage the other week, but I'm sure I'd have noticed it sooner if done there. Oh well, an excuse for a bit of a mod.

OK, will post when fitted - won't be quick.

Should have gotten some pony pack upper and lowers
It'd be something different over here but we take a significant hit with shipping and taxes getting these over.

Could have been someone backed into it but it's more likely a stone. Same thing happened to my last car - almost identical place and punched straight through fairly thick plastic

Consider yourself lucky.. a friend of mine bought a brand new Subaru Sti and on the journey home a spark plug flipped up and landed on his bonnet on the motorway.

How did we know it was a spark plug?? Because of the shape of the dent!! It was deep.

I'm sure that hole would have been caused by a large stone with sharp edges flipped up by another car?

Yeah, had similar a few years ago, some sort of metal object hit the roof and caused a massive dent.

Monty haha yea I was mostly kidding. I just doubted you guys had many if any pony packs there so I figured it would be unique. I've got that pack with my car which I randomly found used and loved the look. the fact that I so rarely even see them here has been a bonus, it makes me feel special :)

Monty to be hoenst, probably a stone, it doesn't even have to be big, infact, smaller ones with a sharper point would have caused more damage if they were travelling. croyde had one go through his fog light surrounds!

Let us know when the new grille goes on - if you want, and if it comes in time, myself and two other owners will be at mine on Sat 27th all day doing mods (all 3 of us will have our bumpers off), so if you want to save a bit of cash bring it down and i'll fit the grille for you :)! Equally - I've got a spare stock lower grille lol!

Yeah I reckon mine was from a gritter lorry going in the opposite direction. I heard multiple impacts and was worried about my paintwork but luckily no damage.

It was a while latter when I found the fog light surround shattered with telltale brown stains of grit.

Currently covered up with black gaffer.

New lower grille fitted

US EB lower grille fitted. I didn't find the old one offensive, but in the metal, the US one looks much better. Almost like a huge continuous grille with a line of bumper in the middle.
