I know everyone has their thing and people love what they love and it only has to make sense to them but help me understand....cleaning the undercarriage??

I get the functional side of this in areas that are prone to rust but to clean it just to clean it? It's not something one would interact with regularly let alone even see on a daily basis.

Not trying to be a jerk. Genuinely looking for understanding.

While every Car/Truck Enthusiast has their own OCD aspects with their rides - to me (opinion) cleansing the underbody of a vehicle that isn’t used for any type of display or shows - is off the rails (to me) when “detailing” the underside to that degree. While I totally respect the owners who do put in that amount of time to cleanse the underside, it’s not something for me - even with my own car OCDness… LOL. On a 100% show car that barely sees the light of day and is trailered to a show, then parked over top of mirrors and lights, yes I get it…

I also understand how some want to rinse/wash the undercarriage after the winter or during it - that process is waaaaaaay different than getting under the car and detailing to the degree shown in the initial images here. That’s just sliding the undercarriage washer under, soaping/rinsing, and letting it air dry. The degree to getting under a vehicle and hand cleaning every nook and cranny - and popping off wheels to make the back sides as clean as the fronts - wow, that’s wild - but again, to each their own. I’m not faulting anyone nor am I trying to be offensive, but there’s just no way you’d see me cleaning the underside of any vehicle I own to THAT degree. For those that do cleanse/detail the underside of a vehicle to that degree, kudos and great job - it looks great!

Are the undersides of my vehicles clean? Yes, but only from the “rinse and air dry” perspective.

The exterior, interior, and engine bays of my vehicles, even the dailys - yes they’re what some would call “pristine” because those are all areas that (to me) are always seen.

My 94 Cobra’s engine bay looks better than when it was brand new - and when people see it at shows they can’t believe the actual milage (140k) or that the car was a daily driver through all seasons…. I’ll put its engine bay up against any year mothballed vehicle or one with 0-to lower miles and it will match or exceed in appearance and cleanliness. I’ve posted images of it on here in some of the detailing threads.

Now again, some people don’t ever clean their engine bays - or some don’t clean them to the extent that some of us do - and they think having a pristine engine bay is off the rails like having a pristine undercarriage…. LOL.

I say enjoy your rides, do your detailing thing, keep ‘em stock or modify the hell out of them; just do whatever makes YOU happy. I applaud anyone who shares what they do with their vehicles and how they do it. 👍👍
