This will always be a question in FL, as many move from northern/western states and have different understandings. We moved from the north and my wife keeps calling our screened enclosure a lanai, even though it is not. (Truth be told, she just loves the sound of the word lanai.) From an insurance standpoint the better one is the covered porch that @NGOT8R is showing. It offers more substantial protection from hurricane force winds. Screen it in to protect you from insects it would be a screened porch. Based that and the concrete pad @NGOT8R has, he will either have a screened porch and a Florida screened enclosure, or a screened porch and a screened lanai.pffffft…that ain’t no lanai, you don’t live in Hawaii, that’s a frickin patio (or a deck if you live up north) if I’ve ever seen one!
…don’t shoot the messenger![]()
Anyway, here's an article that may help. Happy for you whatever you want to call it, @NGOT8R.
