Remember the black cap removed ? It fills the hole, nut all gone.
Yeah, I know. But that black dot in the middle of pretty red anodized aluminum doesn't appeal to me. I could get the black one but it's 90% a cosmetic mod for me so why spend the money on black to replace a black handle? At $45 it's already expensive for that little bit of aluminum. Why not include a matching cap? Even if it adds $5 or so.

Yeah cosmetic is part of it and why I bought the red. Main reason for replacing it was operational .

How much do folks spend on a cell phone every month? 45 bucks ain't nothing. If the desire is there one can find a color matching blank off button, nothing special.

The little bit of aluminum, is such a minuscule part of the process. What about the million dollar CNC machine it took to make it?

So 45 bucks for a replacement piece that fits exactly as the OEM, is reasonable.

I also don't do hack jobs. i grinded it, then sanded it. Looks factory fresh.
Didn't say you did, but most people would with such mod. Very easy to go too deep by accident, not grind it evenly, or many other mistakes that would qualify for a 'hack job'. At least for my standards. Ha ha. I'm going to leave it alone, and hope something doesn't crap out over time.

If it does, I'll buy some 1.5mm diameter piano wire and make my own.

Great little side effect with my little mod, next to no effort to pull the hood release.
Hey, did anyone ever make a weaker hood release spring? Do you have a copy of the video you shaving the OEM spring and add it back to this thread
Thanks

I put it on a belt sander to take material away evenly all around the spring.
