Not familiar with the latest Mustang aftermarket stuff, but having messed with mods on Japanese imports there are always a few standout aftermarket companies that produce the highest quality stuff. They usually cost more than the rest but are well worth it. I'm looking at getting a 16 GT and curious which supercharger kit(s) are the high quality in this regard? For other platforms, this is typically what you find with the better stuff:

1. OEM-like fit and finish. Manufactured parts are consistent from one to the next.

2. High quality hardware included - you don't need to buy anything additional because its missing or the hardware in the kit is sub-standard.

3. Well tested before release and everything works as it should - no beta testing products on paying customers who then have to figure out how to get it to fit or work properly.

4. Included tunes work well without any driveability issues when map guidelines are followed (correct mods/gas/etc).

5. Extra care was taken in the design to minimize cutting or similar modifying of the car to get stuff to fit.

6. Reliability - this one may be hard to judge, but out-of-the-box or long-term failures are usually very rare with the high quality stuff.

7. In-depth and clear installation instructions and/or install videos.

Pretty much all manufacturers have very very high quality kits now.

But, roush is the supplier to ford racing performance parts which is known for their factory fit and finish.

it has an engine!
All the supercharger kits are going to be about the same. Part of its reliability would be based off how hard you push the blower. Some chargers are a bit more efficient then others based off its design. Figure out your goal and see what kit fits those needs the best. Positive displacement
or centrifugal types have pros and cons. Figure out if those pros or cons are best for what you want to do with the car.

Reading through the various threads, there seems to be a number of issues that people are dealing with in some of these kits including Procharger, Roush/FR, Hellion (twin-turbo), etc. Are these just unusual cases or due to improper install or such? There's got to be some kit(s) that shines above the rest. Maybe there are all generally reliable but that doesn't mean they all have part-to-part consistency, high quality hardware, good fit and finish, and no driveability issues.

I'm looking at the base kits for a street driven car (so lower boost - nothing exotic). I understand the differences between various forced induction kits - positive displacement superchargers, centrifugal superchargers, and turbochargers, but what is more important to me is the quality of the kit.

Whipple is OEM quality, no cutting, and the tune is done in a Ford facility by a Ford engineer.

It's a brand new platform. The cars have been out for less than a year. All of the systems will have minor bugs until the tuners catch up. For a "factory" tune, I'd stick with ProCharger or Whipple. If you're looking to make more power than Whipple/PC make stock, it's about choosing the right tuner. All of the superchargers make crazy power.

A quote fromWhipple SC
http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?p=709738#post709738
"Other than Frpp/Roush, nobody has done more durability testing then us. In fact, we tested at 650-700rwhp with multiple test cars, including track testing at Miller Park in Vegas on multiple vehicles and Fords labs that test between 0-130deg F temps. Held steady state at 200mph to control temps. The amount of testing is typically unheard of in the aftermarket. We're extremely confident in the kit and the engine. The logic built into the calibration is state of the art and constancy adjust the power to its given conditions. The throttle body is a must, the fans are also very important for consistency in hot applications. We've got a lot of customers in Losiania with tremendous success."

I'll put my Kenne Bell up against any thing out there including the Whipple. Billet vs Cast, 167mm throttle body comes with the kit not an option and the power numbers speak for themselves over other PD kits, not saying quality is not there in others, I'll let Travis at BoostWorks or Jim Bell explain advantages in detail.

Judging by your list of preferences you have 2 options.

Roush or Whipple

There are lots of companies and they all have their place and all will do what you want but when talking about factory fit & finnish these two and maybe even VMP are the ones to choose from. KB has a great kit but looks the furthest from OEM fit & finnish than all of them.

Just my 2¢ and my opinion is for Whipple hands down. Accomplishes everything on your list easily

Thanks! From what I've been reading I was leaning towards Whipple.

If I had to do it all over again I would go with Kenne belle. I've seen a few in person and they look great.

Mine is pretty legit and dealing with Travis at BoostWorks has been awesome. Honestly the only cutting involved is in the splash guard to open up a fresh air hole for the filter.
