No, he's knocking a competitor. Has he ever installed or used an Edelbrock supercharger? Likely not. This was a thread for those who are interested in the Edelbrock supercharger, not for competitors to bash Edelbrock, yet every single thread started by guys interested in the Edelbrock units is knocked by people who have competitor units.

Some of us are not looking for absolutely the most horsepower. Some of us are looking for units that look and perform as OEM units. Some of us not drag racing, but simply want more spirited performance on the street. Good competitors don't knock other competitors - they promote the best of what THEY do. I"m sure Whipple probably makes more HP, but I also look at other things like noise and reliability.

Not all are looking for max power, but many are looking for bang for the buck. No need to overpay to under deliver so to speak and that's what others are stating, for that kind of money, why not get this or get that. There is reasons for everyone to pick whatever, aesthetics, power, price, finish, etc. The main thing we always stress is do the proper research. Many just blindly support something.

I like the Edelbrock system, it's a nice setup. I know nothing of the calibration other than whatever someone posted with a ridiculous cam schedule, but I'm not sure if that was there kit. Normally the systems are very nice and conservative.

Not sure if you are aware the Whipple software has "flight control" which can pull as much as 25% of the power globally or gear by gear. This accomplishes exactly what you are looking for BUT leaves the option to add more power when you get bored or used to reduced power. There isn't another kit on the market that can give you this. Best of both worlds.

Whipple's kit is easily considered "OE Appearance" over all the kits out there. The Edelbrock has an OEM appearance, but not one that Ford has ever had.

I do not drag race or track my car. My wife and I use this car for get aways and I drive the car in all wether but snow as much as I can. I would consider it a "grocery getter" and it performs better than stock drivability with the ability to out perform most any car I come across at the same time. Why wouldn't someone spending this kind of money on a power adder want this?

Honestly, I would prefer a vendor to give me this kind of advice. If they sell multiple kinds of kits and make money no matter what kit they advise why would one advise against it? Because they know what they are talking about. Edelbrock is a good company but this SC is bottom of the barrel. I think its good advice to to recommend something else

Whipple will make more power AND less power (25% reduction via flight control) and have OEM drivability and reliability. Not sure what noise you are referring to? Fans? you can either opt out of them or install a toggle switch to turn on and off like some of us do. Imagine that, more options.... Whine? there is not much wine at all and honestly I wish I could get it to whine more, LOVE the whine but I would imagine the Edelbrock will be in the same ballpark whine wise

Apparently nobody can give you advice of any kind which is pretty funny seeing how this is a public forum that people come to for advice lol.

If you decide to buy from yourself an Edelbrock ;) I wish you luck with it. Ive always said its great to have options and its great to have FI either way

Wow, sorry to have made you so mad - didn't think my statement would've sparked such a response.

We've installed plenty of these on the S197 platform, only thing really different on the S550 is cosmetics, even then we weren't crazy about the kits so we haven't added them to the site. They tend to fall on their face after about 600hp range in the higher RPMs and get heat soak like crazy.

Wasn't knocking them so much as stating my opinion which, is hands on.

There are plenty of solid kits and I'll be 100% honest, don't be fooled by a kit just because it has some fancy plastic on top plastered in their logo and name. Whipple, VMP, FRPP - Roush... if you're looking for a PD blower... you don't get much OEM fit and finish as these select few, there is a reason they're used by the big companies and a reason we use and request them.

I would like to learn more about folks' experiences with the new 1586 units, but I don't appreciate being made to feel like an idiot by everyone else who for whatever reason does not like the Edelbrock product. This is a thread on the Edelbrock product and not on any other brand. I don't go on the Whipple/Roush/VMP/Vortech/Procharger threads and say the product is bad, inferior or otherwise. Each has its pluses and minuses. Who knows I may ultimately decide to road race the car and put a centrifugal unit on.

The bottom line is, for this thread, let's stick to the brand called for in the thread.

The point is people who add superchargers want power and efficiency. Edelbrocks older design was a total waste on the LS platform, you could do the basic bolt ons and achieve the same results. So this new "super" supercharger has a little larger head unit and more cooling area! From the dyno charts I've seen they are still a under performers.

Im seriously considering this kit as well, the Stage 1. Been looking at it for the past few weeks. The MAIN selling point....It has a CARB EO. And no I don't live in CA, and I'm will be perfectly satisfied with the power gains from the Stage 1 kit. I get a pretty decent industry discount from where I work.

my 1999 chevy cavalier i spushin 1000hp to the rear wheels but this super charger told me it would give it more hp and all it did wass hammer my 4 cylinder cummins pistons thru the block

I just want to know how Hypermotive is a competitor? Last I checked they do not manufacture superchargers, they are a vendor. An example of a competitor would be Whipple, VMP, or something along those lines. OEM fitment? Haven't seen a Ford factory equipped Edlebrock car. However I have seen lots of Whipple and Roush/Ford racing units. Cant really get more OEM fitment than OEM.
