Here’s mine after about 20k supercharged miles. First time the headers have been off the car and I could hear something sliding around so I tilted the tube and a pile of metal shards came out. Think I’ll be going catless lol

I wish I knew. I bought the headers second hand almost 2 years ago and the cats were welded on to the collectors  They’re SW headers though, so it’s possible they’re the cats that came with the kit.

Looks like corrugated cardboard wadded up in there. Mine are BBK high flows. I hope they don't do that.

Should be fine if you NA. But yea any forced induction I would definitely go catless.

They're $$$$ but I will update put anything but Kooks Green Cats on a supercharged car that's anything more than a Dyno queen or STREET-driven car.

Ouch, looks nasty. Good thing you caught it before it plugged up the motor.

I've been told even Kooks Green cats cant hold up to a supercharged car. This is why I went catless.

This info was from a Mustang shop. Although I did find this online with a quick search: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forum...2-long-tubes-w-green-cats.html#post1591313717

Considering I was planning to spend $2300+ on a set of Green catted headers and the shop instead was trying to convince me to get a set of catless headers for nearly $1000 less, I think they're probably telling the truth and being honest lol.

Also to note even Kooks lists them at 600hp. They dont mention whether thats whp or bhp but either way most FI folks are over that anyway.

I decided to go catless to not worry about a set of $2300 green cats going bad or plugging my motor.

That link has one vague comment with no details or pics. Kooks has a cheaper ceramic HFC and an expensive all stainless (substrate) Green Cat rated at "up to 800hp" -each. 1600 crank HP = about 1,300-1,400whp.

https://www.kooksheaders.com/green

At 1,000whp I probably wouldn't have cats atall but if you don't like the smell, they seem to be the only cat to live in high HP applications. My friends drag car has not had any problems.

Catted is fine for N/A. Catless is a must for turbo, but apparently it doesn't like superchargers either, lol.

Like I said, my main basis for my post was based on what a Mustang shop told me. You are correct it's 800hp, I thought it was 600. However where does it say 800hp per cat?

After reading your link I just remembered the main issue I had with them. They advertise "exhaust gas temp up to 1500F" like it's something special. 1500F is nothing, I can hit that at 50% throttle lol. Heat is what kills the cat. Stock cats I saw exhaust gas temps up to 2300F. I still get 1800F now that I'm catless.

I'm not saying the Green cats are bad, they're definitely better than any other cat on the market. Just that on a boosted car they're not as bulletproof as they lead you to believe. There's plenty of people running FI on factory cats without issue too, for now.

I’ve been curious how other makes/models that come from the factory with either turbo or supercharger are doing it. What are they doing different?
