I'm interested in upgrading to some aftermarket wheels that are 20 x 9.5 inch and then matching them to Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 tires. I've currently got the 18 x 8 foundry black painted wheels.

I'm mainly upgrading to the 20" wheel for the looks and I'm not interested in going to a really wide tire. I'm paranoid enough about rock chips and I'm afraid a wider tire will wreak havoc on my paint. At what tire width would I start potentially running in to these kinds of issues?

And based on this, what size in the Continentals would be most appropriate? Looks like I could go as low as a 245 for a 9.5" rim? Thanks in advance for any help. New to sizing wheels/tires and looking to pull the trigger soon due to good deals.

For a 9.5 I recommend a 255/35/20 up to a 275/35/20

I personally say a 275/35/20 to have a full size tire for edge protection.

That being said rock chips I don't see as a A issue I personally use a 325 on the rear and 305 upfront no issues no rock chips and I drive her hard.

What wheels are you after maybe I can help out with fitment offsets advice and such

So I bought the Roush Quicksilver wheels, 20"x9.5". I've pretty much decided on the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 for the tires. I imagine those tires on 255/35R20 should fit just fine, correct? Totally new to the aftermarket wheel and tire world, so I just want to make sure before I pull the trigger.

I know a lot of people like to go staggered and much wider in the back, but my car usually sees some snow before the snow tires go on, so I don't want to go too wide because I assume that would impact traction even more. And my car is a daily that sees a lot of miles, so I'd like to be able to rotate them.

I hear a lot of talk and confusion about offset....Do I need to worry about any of that with this wheel and tire combo?

If you have the quicksilver wheels I would actually do a 275/35/20 all around thats exactly what Roush does.

That's solid advice right there. You'll probably like how your car handles with some more rubber on the road too.

I thought about going wider, but I still think I'm leaning towards just sticking with the 255s. It looks like the 275s are about four pounds heavier per tire. Hard to get a good feel for exactly how much of a difference that would make, but I'd rather keep the weight as low as possible since I'm already paying a little bit of a performance price for going with 20" wheels. Maybe if I was going the power adder route, then I could really use the extra traction and the extra weight wouldn't be much of a factor.

Regardless of which route I go, would both the 255 and 275s bolt right up without any fitment issues?
