That's 1, the best way to overfill the crankcase by droppin in 8qts right away, and 2, just plain terrible advice.

Pretty sure 8qts is the correct amount for the GT. You are not overfilling anything by dumping in 8 qts right away.

Whoa. Of course there's oil all over the dipstick. What you should be focused on is the two dots. If the dot gets submerged, then oil will cling and fill in the dot (like a bubble blowing wand you played with as a kid). So you want oil filling in the bottom dot but not the top dot. Doesn't matter if there's oil running elsewhere on the dipstick... but once you get good you can tell even on that. There should be more oil clinging to the checkered portion where it was submerged.
