Hi, I just placed a new leather cover for my seats. The problem is the airbag light is on. I don’t know what’s wrong since it’s the same chair. Thanks!

Double check the plugs underneath your seat.

Aside from checking seat wiring harness:

1) Check to make sure you didn’t damage the airbag bladder/sensor in the lower seat cushion and make sure all connectors to it have been secured.

2) If ANY airbag equipped component in the S550 is unplugged or disconnected and the vehicle is started or driven, it will create a hard airbag fault that can only be reset with a proper scan tool or Ford IDS.

Check this thread out that contains a lot of front seat compilation topics, including air bag discussions

If it’s not a seat bladder or wiring issue, didn’t start or drive the car with an SRS component disconnected and need to diagnose further, this is the only airbag mapping diagnosis I have from a Ford Shop manual - I think it was 2017 S550. The airbag system has not changed drastically from 2015-current.

The S550 airbag system is very complex and any hard fault code reset needs to be performed using a proper scan tool that is equipped to reset air bag codes OR reset by a Dealership using the Ford IDS system. I'm not sure if the SRS system can be reset using the Forscan device.

This is the other diagnostic info I had posted a while back for folks rebuilding salvage S550's with airbag or non-start issues. The info within may also be helpful.

Check these 2 areas for SRS issues, threads below for reference.

Yes, never turn the key on when the front seats are removed. creates a fault code. It's easy to reset with an OBD scanner.
