I bought one of the new mechanical pony emblems for my front grill. looks like a feat to change this. Anyone aware of s video or instructions on how to do this?

I have not done it, but others have said you need to snap off the (5?) plastic pins (back of grill side) from the OEM pony to remove it. After my car gets here and I get around to wanting to black out the Pony, I plant to try cutting one side of the metal one way press on spring clips with a Dremel cutting wheel. Hopefully that would work to let you slide the rest of the clip off the plastic pins to the side. You cannot slide them 'off' the pin. they are a one time one way installation. I want to try to keep my OEM Pony in tact.

If anyone tries this Dremel idea, let us know if it works.

I'm betting you bought the badge from hamRheadCreations on Etsy? I was one of his guinea pigs with the 2014 badge on the 2015, I ended up pulling the studs and attaching it with 3M double-sided tape since the stud patterns are different. So can't say how easy it is to attach the nuts to the studs when installing the 2015 badge.

Removing the old badge is pretty easy, first remove the radiator shroud. Just take a flat head screw driver and pry up the plastic pins that hold it in place. They will pop up with a lil force.

Once the shroud is removed reach behind the badge and break off the studs, you could just pry the badge off from the front but this way is easier and should avoid any accidental damage.

After that it should be as simple as threading on the nuts on the studs. But I have heard that you may need to remove the hood latch to get to the stud in the middle of the new emblem.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Ive taken the shroud off and looks as though the hood latch is going to be in the way too. I did buy that one from hammerhead. Thanks for the advice

Hood latch does have to be removed, make sure you mark it's location before you take it off. They are correct, the only way I could get off the old Pony was to break off the post (4) on the back. Installing the new one is not to bad after that providing your hands aren't to large. Keep a accordian magnet handy because you will drop at least two of the nuts while trying to start them on the studs, and they do not fall out the bottom of the car the only way to retreive them is with a magnet.

I did not remove the hood latch - you should be able to squeeze your arm in there to break off the oem tabs.

I skipped using the nuts, some double sided 3m tape suffices just fine.

I don't have a car yet. So I may have assumed incorrectly that the 2015 OEM Pony's mounting pins had those (almost) flat rectangular spring clips that are pressed over the plastic studs. Is that incorrect? If it is more like an actual nut, but still a press on (meaning it was not threaded on an cannot be threaded off)?

I'd love to see a picture of the backside of the OEM Pony mounts, if you are able to while you are doing this job. :)
