Hello everyone. So shortly, I have a 2018 Mustang and I didn’t start the car for like few months because I was out of country. When I turned back couple of days ago, I charged my battery(checked the health level of battery etc.) and everything is working good except the Digital Dash. It’s black fully or sometimes it’s black with stripes. What can it be about ? I don’t have an insurance that will change the dash for free I’m hoping that it’s something fixable. I checked fuses in car and they’re healthy also :(

btw I’m living in Poland Warsaw and If anyone is living in Poland, I’m opened to good mechanic-service advices. Thank you from now.

That actually could be caused by moisture. Is that an underground garage?

It is an underground garage but it’s private and there’s air conditioner inside working 7/24

Have you tried disconnecting the battery, waiting a few minutes, and reconnect. It might work and it’s free. Good luck.

Update: I brought my car to official authorized Ford dealer today. They said that they’ve put the car into computer and it says there’s an update for instrument cluster(They don’t know if it can solve this problem and open the screen tho but they think so) buut they said because of my screen isn’t working right now , this software update can destroy the system of the car and car won’t work at all and they don’t want to take risk as authorized service etc... So finally my problem didn’t get solved still.

I’ve called few other Ford’s which the first thing they all say is we can’t deal with American imported Mustang’s and I have zero clue why lol

I’m still looking for help

The service person who said this should be bought outside and shot. One of the dumbest statements I’ve ever heard and totally not true. Please try another dealer. Good luck.

Is there any difference between American and European Mustang ? To be specific, any software difference or different coding/programming? Because of I have American imported Mustang in Europe, they’re saying softwares and programs are different which makes no sense to me

It is a possibility as options and their functions may differ. But your dealer should be able to reach out to their corporate contact and have them contact Ford US for assistance. They are either too stupid and/or too lazy. Sorry for my harsh tone but it makes me mad that you have to go through this for something so important.

There is a difference, actually. I assume you are in Poland? If so, your country would obviously use the metric system, and U.S. spec Mustangs do not. Even though the gauges can be set to display a secondary speed reading in mph if you have a metric car, and kph if you have a U.S. car, the primary speed readout is not changeable, and is meant for the country that the car was imported/built for. As such, there are differing part numbers for Metric vs U.S clusters; Auto vs manual transmission, etc.

Also, the cluster itself has seen changes since 2018, because there was a recall on early 2018 clusters (per last link in Bikeman's post) So there will be updated parts available.

Can't say for sure that you buying a metric cluster from where you are will mean it will or wont work. However, you are safer with providing your VIN to a U.S. dealer's parts department, and ordering a new cluster via that route.

That makes complete sense but my question is why did his digital dash stop working in the first place? I have stored cars for much longer than 4 months.

Yeah, it's a good question. Frankly, it could just be faulty electronics tbh. These things get real hot, for example, if you ever get your face up close to it, after being on for a while, so constant temp fluctuations could do them in for an early death. Or, just a manufacturing variance on the board internally, that left this particular unit with a shorter life, despite being covered out of the sun and weather. Who knows.
