Thank you for going with that hood. One question I have is : Are you providing any provisions for attaching underhood insulation? Not a problem either way, just a question.

Thanks Bob,
that's a great question.

In short, no. We're going for weight savings in addition to styling. The hood will be made with a foam core embedded into the carbon laminate schedule and a perimeter only frame that incorporates factory hinge and latch mounting provisions along with provisions for windshield washers. In this fashion we can keep weight down while maintaining structural integrity. IMO, and this may be just mine, the underhood insulation is simply a marginal noise barrier that adds weight. Most of the enthusiasts we cater to across all brands are not too concerned with a minor elevation in underhood noise. After all, people tend to add cold air intakes, free flowing exhausts, etc. that all contribute to elevated noise levels.... losing the hood insulation is not a concern in my mind.

Sorry for the long winded response, hope it helps.

The over all lines of the hood will be more subtle, as the passenger side somewhat represents. The fender bulge sweeps to the same point just as the GT350 does.
So the creases of the passenger side are in fact different? It appears as if the crowning is less acute, and that the crease that extends from the heat extractor terminates earlier (further from the cowl) as a result of the lower offset differential between the relief and the overall rake of the hood. This makes sense.

If I understand you correctly, the passenger side reliefs surrounding the heat extractor are revised as compared to the driver's side and this is intentional?

Sounds like you understand however a quick clarification is in order.

The passenger side is the master side. Before surface revision it looked like the driver side. It now has the surface detail and lines we are after. The hard lines you see in the driver side are the same lines we started with on the pass side. The driver side in these early pics posted early had not yet been surfaced and it had all of the tangents and lines left in hard for surfacing/dimension purposes. We needed one master side to mirror and started with the passenger. The driver side has now been brought into the same level of surface and definition as the passenger side.

Hope this helps,

Apology accepted, no offense taken.

Sometimes it's hard to envision the finished product when you are seeing development pics.
We like to share the process so that people have an understanding of what it takes to get from concept to production.

Won't be long now,

what he said
Quick question, would you guys be willing to entertain a modified version of the hood with louvers on the extractor and a small ram air inlet close to the front. It would be similar to the style of the C6 ZO6 style. I'm looking to fab a custom cold air intake box.

I was talking with Todd last Friday about just this; a more aggressive louvered GT350 hood. He seemed interested once things are settled in for the original. I don't want to speak for Todd/Helion.

However from what I have seen it is not nearly as much work as creating the surface. It really depends on if it is pursued as a true variant or not, that would dictate the approach.

A ram air inlet, is not hard to do. However it would get more complicated if you wanted the inlet to have additional surfaces to guide air.

Thanks for the interest and the bump in the thread.

Al things are possible however please let us get through to production of the original before we entertain modified versions.

Best regards,

Thanks for the response. No problem for the insulation, I was just wondering. I am so stoked for this to come out, last piece I need for my car.

Thanks
