How do you separate the Heater Core hoses? They seem to be some type of quick connect system but it's not obvious how to separate them. The Service Manual doesn't indicate how to separate them, just to separate them.

Thanks.

So I did figure this out. But what a BEAR! Especially the lower hose. It takes 3 hands where there's no room for any.

You have to push the Quick Connector towards the firewall while simultaneously depressing the white tabs on both sides of the connector. If you can get a grip on them then you have to pull the Quick Connector away from the Firewall. If you depress both tabs enough to clear the latch mechanism in the Connector they'll pull right off. But ... The insulation mounted to the Firewall prevents enough room to get a grip on the tabs in order to depress them. Took me several hours of speaking in tongues to finally get both hoses off.

On the lower hose I used my inspection mirror to position a thin cable tie around the Connector and slide it between the 2 tabs and the Connector Shell. Then I tightened the cable tie as tight as I could get it and the d@#$! thing still wouldn't release. So I pulled straight up on the cable tie using pliers in one hand while pulling on the Connector with the other. It took a few tries but I finally got it free. I hope I never have to separate these ridiculous things again.

Those hose connections can be a pain! For easy reassembly, remove the white plastic clips from the heater core and install them into the lines. That way it just takes a push to reinstall the lines, super easy.

Are you replacing them with the FatHouse Fab -AN heater core fittings? If so, you will need to carefully remove all seals from the factory elbow and install them into the FatHouse fittings in the same order. My buddy just went through this on his a a month or so ago Bullitt.

Good suggestion. I removed the white clips from the male ends while disassembling the Climate Control Assembly so it should make re-installing them that much easier.

Thx.

No, I'm just going to go with OEM or aftermarket OEM equivalents. I was forced to go down this road because my Evaporator failed again. I wanted the Ford Dealer to do the replacement (again) but they refused to work with aftermarket parts. The OEM Evaporators are so unreliable there's no reason to install another one. So I'm trying to figure things out now that I'm ready to select and order parts.

Thx.
